Salsa season is here!

I'm so proud of my salsa recipe, it is my favourite item I can! Red, yellow and orange bell pepper replace traditional green peppers to help give an overall amazing flavour to the salsa.

I've been busy making many different items for markets this fall and winter and am so excited to share them again this year with you!

Salsa $8/pint
Sweet Pickled Beets $7/pint
Sweet and Spicy Bread and Butter Pickles $8/pint
Strawberry Jam $12/400ml

June has been good to us, bringing multiple harvests of radishes and herbs.
Radishes for lunches and fresh salads, and herbs for well, EVERYTHING. While underrated most of the time, my perennial herb garden is definitely one of my most rewarding beds. In it's fourth year, it is one of the earliest producers and is pretty drought resistant.

Spring preserves have started! Anyone needs me, I will be plucking flowers from now, until the end of time.

Our garden is really starting to get me excited! A lot of our perennial plants are in their third year and and beginning to go BOOM.

We planted our potatoes and onions a couple weeks back and I'm beginning to see the potatoes break soil. (I may or may not squeal on my daily to semi-daily walks.)

Nearly all of my 200+ garlic cloves sprouted, setting me up for my 400 head goal for next year...

I could go on but my point is I am grateful for this wealth and the soil underneath my nails. This little piece of land helped save my sanity and my soul.

I have been working on labels for the last couple weeks, trying to make canning season a little easier on myself. While I was really proud of what I first came up with, I’ve decided to make a change and and some on my personality to the labels! I’ve also changed the way I will be labelling the jars this year making cleaning, and reusing your jars a breeze!

Look for new labels on this seasons products, I’ll share more as the spring goes on!

It may be spring, but up until today, it had still been chilly outside.

I make my own chai latte concentrate to keep in the pantry for whenever I get a craving. I mix equal parts chai concentrate, and milk (any type will work) and warm through. It also works great for a iced latte as well!

Making my own concentrate has been a game changer! I can make it decaf for my own needs, and I LOVE adding extra cinnamon to the mix. It is also a lot more cost effective which can be a good thing.

Look at this soup! The homemade turkey broth is so gelatinous after being refrigerated it turned to jello! I love jello, this is personally my favourite type! It may look intimidating but I promise it's a flavour bomb, and so healthy for you, and once warmed, the broth turns back to liquid.

One smaller turkey turned into 3 hot dinners, 5 sandwiches, 4 liters of soup + 1 bowl, and a liter of broth. This is a reason why I cook at home; I can make the most with the ingredients I have at hand.

I canned the soup in my pressure canner and now its shelf stable for whenever I need, or want.

Being rich doesn't always involve dollars❤️

While I've been waiting for spring to really arrive, I've been making alot of meals out of freezer and pantry staples.

Cleaning out the cupboards before the fresh produce starts to roll in. I like to reset in the spring to give myself a good foundation for the year ahead. It's been wet and cold so no complaints about beans and chicken soup still around here!

I can't wait for garden and preserving season to arrive!

What are you doing while you wait for spring to fully get here?
