Sometimes organizing looks worse before it looks better. 😆

This is what I call the MESSY MIDDLE — and there was a whole lot of method happening inside that mess!

This family wanted to seriously downsize the toys in this room.

Instead of trying to decide what stayed and what went while everything was scattered everywhere, I started with one of my favourite rules:

LIKES WITH LIKES.

Stuffies with stuffies.
Dolls with dolls.
Cars with cars.
Action figures with action figures.
Garbage out.
Donations together.

Once everything had a category, the decisions became SO much easier.

Instead of asking, “Do we keep this stuffed animal?” 100 different times, they could look at all the stuffed animals together and decide which ones actually mattered.

Three large bins of stuffies became one. 🙌
Bins were emptied
Bags were filled for donation.
Garbage left the room.
And what looked like chaos was actually the transition between overwhelmed and intentional.

That's why I work Rocks → Pebbles → Sand.

We don't start by making everything pretty.

We tackle the big stuff.
We create categories and systems.
Then we worry about the little details.

Sometimes you have to make a mess to finally see what you've got.

And once you can see it?

The decisions get easier. ❤️

The first four pictures show that this storage area was already more than half full, with additional belongings spilling outside of it. The owners genuinely weren’t sure everything from their move was going to fit.

I asked if they were comfortable letting me take organizational control of the space—and thankfully, they said yes. 😄

Accessibility mattered to them because of their young children.

I started by pulling things out, grouped like with like, used the shelving strategically, created accessible zones, and rebuilt the space so everything could actually fit inside while still leaving room to move around and find things.

This is exactly the kind of project I love.

I unexpectedly have a couple of openings this week for anyone who has a space that feels impossible right now.

The weather has turned… garages are opening, bikes and barbecues are coming out, and soon it’ll be full-on camping gear chaos. 😄
