I wanted to sneak in here this morning to share a few things. First, a story:

Before I had announced on here my decision to wrap up Magpie Curio Co., I was slowly starting to list my gotten treasures on Marketplace, desiring a new forward motion. But small doubts lingered still. Was I making the right call?? Yet it became clear in a blink of an eye! I had posted eight lots of vintage Fall items in one listing and within the first 15 minutes or so, someone message me about them. She decided to take all eight lots! I was very encouraged by that, but the true confirmation came when her and I met over Messenger and in person multiple times over the next few weeks. To date, Lisa has purchased about 75% of my remaining stock to begin building her new Etsy business. WOW! A simple posting of some Fall items led to us meeting, both of us needing something different that fit together so perfectly. I believe God orchestrated that meeting, and I am forever grateful to him for providing such perfectly timed confirmation. Lisa plans to extend to markets and the like, at which time I will definitely let you know how you can find her...because obviously she has amazing taste! :D

The second thing that I wanted to share is that I have put the remaining 25% of my stock up on an online auction. Man, lol, was it ever a lot of work to get ready! But I am really excited for some of my most treasured treasures to go to new owners. I'll pop the link here in case you want to bid also. Thanks, everyone, for supporting me so well. I am so grateful for each of you.

This season of Magpie Curio Co. has been so full of beautiful treasures and littered with undeserved graces and new friendships. But alongside my business’ story ran a story so different - one wrought with heart-breaking circumstances, those bad kind of surprises, and a crowded home that eventually cost me more than I was willing to give. Turns out my heart needs much more than a clear living room and an organized desk…it needs space to teach my kids math, to do that puzzle with my son, to help my husband with our art & design business, to finish walking though the final pieces of my Dad’s estate, and to take better care of myself, too. I have been trying to balance it all, never succeeding, always feeling guilty, and something had to give. Magpie Curio Co. is that thing.

My “work of heart” as one friend so aptly coined it, was truly that. Magpie Curio Co. was my heart laid bare in the sharing of beauty and joy, and in giving it my all, I pray that it brought that beauty and joy to many others. You can argue that I just sold things, but I also think we can agree that what we surround ourselves with can really brighten our lives and make our hearts smile. I will miss being a part of that special work, but as I’m closing this chapter (for now? for forever?), there will be room for the same beauty and joy in my home, in my family, and in my heart.

And this season has not been a waste at all! Quite the opposite. It has been a huge blessing! And for everyone who was even just the tiniest part of it, thank you so much! Truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you… ❤️❤️❤️

This vibrant fellow was sitting in the window at the thrift store in Ladner, placed there just this morning to charm me into bringing him home. He’s fantastic!! But the question remains…are you team clown 🙋‍♀️ or not 🙅‍♀️?

My favourite thing in my home right now is not my stunning Bitossi vase, the brass lamp with the clown shade that sits on my desk, nor is it any one of the other vintage treasures that I have amassed over the past year. Instead, as I’ve been selling items on Facebook Marketplace and taking time to organize what I do have here at home, I’ve made room for something I didn’t even realize I’d love as much as I do…space. More specifically, space for my kids to have friends over daily, creating and planning their own small business. Without any markets planned for Magpie Curio Co. this summer, it looks like I’ll be helping with a different business venture instead! I couldn’t be happier. 🥰
