This set of classic vintage bedside tables, crafted by the Gibbard Furniture Company, which is highly regarded for its exceptional heirloom quality construction, was designed in the traditional 18th century Chippendale / Georgian style, and constructed sometime between 1964 and the late 1980's. The tables are made from high grade solid mahogany wood, and showcase a rich, deep reddish-brown finish that accentuates the natural elegance of the fine wood grain.

Each table features a single top drawer with a classic framed facade, an ornate brass toned drawer pull and a large open area which is a perfect place to stack your books or to use for decor pieces. The tables also have dust drawers, which both reinforce the cabinet frame and the stability of the furniture and keeps them from warping, as well as keeping debris, including sawdust from traditional wood-on-wood sliding tracks, from falling onto items stored in the lower drawer, or in this case, in the open cabinet area below the drawer.

The tables, although in good used condition, did have some nics and bumps on them, but the quality of the wood, the beauty of the design and the master carpentry was and still is just too good to be messed with and I just couldn't paint them. And since stripping them down to bare wood and re-staining and sealing them would have made this set unaffordable for most, I decided to refresh them instead. It's not a perfect solution, but refreshing the tables did get rid of most of the nics and truth be told, even if you were to spend $3,000, which is the estimated replacement cost for a brand new equivalent set of Craftsman nightstands, once you get them home, as careful as you are, you're going to put the same nics and bumps on them so they won't be perfect for long. I know, because I did just that before I started restyling furniture, except that it wasn't Gibbard Furniture. It was Ethan Allen furniture from their Georgian Court Collection.

I just picked up this brown set of vintage mid century modern bedside tables and can't decide on a color. They can really be restyled in any color or paint wash, but since I can't decide what to do, I thought I'd ask you all. What do you think? Pure White? Antique White? Antique White with French Toile Images? Grey? or Charcoal? Or another color I haven't shown here?

Thank you to everyone who responded to my previous post with respect to me asking for customer feedback on which finish people preferred on the vintage secretary desk I was working on -- the plain shabby chic finish like in the photo on the left -- or the shabby chic finish with french toile images -- like in the photo on the right.

Just to let you all know the shabby chic desk with the French toile images received the most votes, and it wasn't even a close call at 11 to 3.

I'm currently taking a break from working on my favorite style of secretary desk because I can't decide whether to restyle it in a plain shabby chic style -- like in the photo on the left -- or whether to embellish the shabby chic desk with french toile images -- like in the photo on the right. So I'm asking for your help. Which finish do you prefer? You can either leave a comment on this post or send me a DM with your thoughts and I'll let you all know the results at the end of this long weekend. Thanks for your help everyone!
