What an emotionally charged week it has been 💚

My daughter is graduating and had her prom last night. I had the pleasure of spending the day with her and her best friend getting ready, helping with all the last-minute details, and acting as photographer for the evening 📷

A friend from high school saw my daughter’s dress and told me it reminded her of our prom. She sent me a photo from that night, our dresses were incredibly similar. Of course, my daughter couldn’t resist making fun of my giant hair p**f, but hey, that was the style back then. 😂

It’s funny how quickly time passes. It feels like yesterday I was the one getting ready for prom, dreaming about the future. Now I’m watching my daughter step into this next chapter of her life.

These are the moments that make you stop and realize how beautiful and bittersweet growing up really is. I’m so proud of the person she’s become, and I can’t wait to see where life takes her next. 💚

Having multiple small businesses is not for the weak.

Lately, I’ve been taking risks, betting on myself and trusting that everything I’m building will eventually come together. Between my art, and all the ideas constantly brewing behind the scenes, some days feel exciting and full of possibility. Other days, I feel completely overwhelmed.

The truth is, growth isn’t always pretty. Sometimes it’s a mess of emotions, uncertainty and wondering if you’re making the right moves.

I’m learning that the answer isn’t to avoid those feelings. It’s to let them move through me. To sit with them, process them and keep showing up anyway.

So lately I’ve been reminding myself:

It’s safe to feel.
It’s safe to receive.
It’s safe to take up space.
It’s safe to show up exactly as I am.

One step, one coffee, one day at a time.

Anyways, here’s today’s outfit while I figure it all out.

This skirt always receives so many compliments when I wear it, and each time it reminds me of the friend who sold it to me at her vintage boutique, SDV Vintage. She was a huge inspiration of mine and a Virgo sun like me. She passed unexpectedly and now I’ll always wonder if it was her who sold me my favourite purple elephant pants back when I was in grade 6 or 7, and if maybe she remembered those pants or meeting me all that long ago.
I learned only after she passed that she had a spot around the time at the flea market where I bought them and it clicked that it could have been her. I don’t remember if it was her who sold them to me, but I’ll always remember how they made me feel while wearing them.
I felt confident, I felt cool and I had a pair of pants that fit me nicely at a time where to me honest, I didn’t have many. Being a size 13 or 15 at that age made shopping difficult.
Stephanie’s shop was always size inclusive and not gendered.
I have some embroidery work that are of her, she gave me some photos to work from and I’ve made a few. They are special to me, everything from her is, especially now.
Anyways, that’s some lore behind this outfit and what it means to me 🩷

Made with an egg white wrap, leftover chicken thigh from , and the pineapple salsa given to me by Amanda at on Saturday at Marché Moncton Market

Sweet, savoury, fresh, and ridiculously good. This combo is definitely happening again.
