I set out to make sourdough biscuits today and somehow ended up with peach pockets instead. ☺️🍑

I was looking for ways to use my sourdough discard and leftover buttermilk, both things that came from making something else and usually get stored in my fridge until they go bad and I throw them out having not used them again like I promised I would. 🙃

Then I noticed some peaches that were perfectly ripe and needed using, so into the dough they went. Did I know what I was doing?-no. ☺️ I topped them with homemade vanilla whipped cream and honey.

It made me realize something.

Everything I needed was already here.

Sometimes abundance isn’t getting more.

Sometimes it’s simply noticing what you already have and making something beautiful with it.
🌿
Plus, I had some good tunes on and felt my Dad and my Gram with me too. 💖 Both are in spirit now and both taught me how to bake.🍪🥧

My Dad has been sending me signs through songs since he passed in 2022, and the DJ happened to play most of them while we baked together today. 🧑‍🍳👩‍🍳🥲💖

Window water. ☀️💧🌿

Nothing fancy. Just a jar of water sitting in the sun.

I always laugh and think… if the sun can power houses, why can’t it power my water and therefore me? ☺️

Sometimes I toss in whatever herbs I have on hand too.

A few rose petals. 🥀
Some lemon balm.
A sprig of rosemary. 🌿
Maybe a little mint.
A couple violets.
Not because I think it turns into some magical potion, but because I like the ritual of it. The pause. The intention. The reminder that nature gives us so much, often in our own backyards. 🏡

Herbs can support us in simple ways too. Lemon balm for calm. Rosemary for clarity. Rose for a little softness and heart medicine. 💖

Mostly, though, it reminds me to slow down and refuel.

To put a jar in the window.
To let the sun shine through the glass.
To take a sip and remember that sometimes the simplest things can feel nourishing.

Today, I’m drinking a little sunshine before it goes away for the next couple of days. I’ll take it while I’ve got it. ☀️💧

🌹✨ I gathered wild rose petals and let the sun do what it does best. ✨🌹

I steeped wild rose petals in places them on a windowsill letting the warmth of the sun, time, light, and nature to gently draw out their beauty.

Later, I blended that rose-infused oil with some of my favourite skin loving, herbal allies… some that also were solar infused on my windowsill.

🌿 Calendula for repair
🌿 Chamomile for soothing
🌿 Plantain for healing
🌿 Vitamin E for nourishment
🌿 Wild Rose for softness, beauty, and a little bit of heart medicine

This little bottle now sits on my vanity, but to me it’s more than a body serum.

It’s a reminder that beautiful things often take time.

The petals had to soften.
The oils had to infuse.
The sun had to do its quiet work.

Maybe we, too, are always steeping in our experiences, softening around the edges, and becoming something we cannot quite see yet.

There is something deeply grounding and even calming about creating with plants in this way.
Watching something that was blooming so freely in the garden become something nourishing for the skin feels nourishing for soul too.

From wild roses… to petals… to oil… to serum. There is something sacred and fulfilling about making beauty from what was growing quietly in your own backyard. 🌹✨

🌿 I make these in small, intentional batches, infused with herbs and sunlight. If you’d like me to create a rose infused body or face serum for you too, my DMs are always open.

🧈✨ Did you know that apparently, all you need is heavy cream (lactose free for us) and a little trust in the process… ✨🧈

Today I made butter. ☺️

Not bought butter. Not “artisan” butter. I made actual butter… in my KitchenAid… while standing there wondering if this was really going to work or am ai ruining perfectly good cream.😂

First, it turned into whipped cream (I did save a little bit of that for dessert 🤤). Then it became grainy. Then suddenly butter.

And then, as if by magic, I had a beautiful ball of butter in one hand and fresh buttermilk in the other. It was easier than I thought.

I rinsed the butter in ice water until it ran clear, saved the buttermilk, and turned it into a creamy dressing for today’s salad.

Honestly? I felt like a prairie woman and a kitchen witch all at once.😆

There’s something deeply satisfying about making something from scratch and realizing that what we often buy separately at the store actually begins as one simple thing.

Cream becomes butter.
Butter gives us buttermilk.
Buttermilk becomes dressing…or pancakes or biscuits.
And suddenly lunch tastes a little more special because you made it with your own hands.

I think this is one of the things we’re being called back to- or I know I am…remembering “old” skills, slowing down, and finding joy in simple things again.

Also… can we talk about how exciting it is that I made butter and immediately started looking around my kitchen wondering, What else can I make from scratch? 😂🌿

Flavoured butters, whipped butters and homemade mayo are next I think.
Because apparently this is who I am now. 😬

✨ Have you ever made butter before, or am I late to this homemade butter party?

🌹 Gathering wild rose petals this morning.

Before the rose becomes oil, tea, or skincare, it first feeds the bees. 🐝

After drying the petals, they’ll become oils, skincare, maybe tea blends, bath rituals, and heart-centered herbal creations. 💗

Nature often gives us exactly what we need, sometimes right in our own backyard.

The medicine is there.

We simply have to notice. ✨

🌸 Lilac Glycerite 🌸

Made from fresh lilac blossoms gathered from the lilac tree in my own yard at the height of bloom…(me, trying to hold on to the beautiful flowers as long as I can.☺️)

Each flower was carefully removed, and infused in a blend of vegetable glycerin and distilled water to preserve as much of spring as I can. 🌺

Lilac teaches us about beauty that doesn’t last forever…the brief season of blossoms (only about 7-10 days 😩), the fragrance it gives and the reminder to stop and enjoy what is right here, right now. 🌹

Handcrafted with intention.

For 2 weeks, they hung quietly in their chrysalides. 🐛

No rushing.
No forcing.
No growing too fast or too slow.
Just the unseen, messy work behind the scenes of becoming. 🦋

Today, a couple butterflies finally emerged.

Such a gentle reminder that not all growth is visible, and not all transformations happen all at once or in the blink of an eye.

Sometimes the most important changes happen in the dark…before the wings appear. 🌱🦋
