Welcome to my shop! I started making handmade baby items while pregnant with my 4th baby. He inspired the creation of NATZ Baby Shop. Well actually all my children did! The NATZ letters are the initials of all four of our kids. I am sure like me most of you like to find unique items that your babies love! I hope as you shop through my different toys and baby items you find what you are looking fo

r. Most of my toys include some natural hardwood pieces. To care for these wood pieces is simple. Keep the wood rubbed with a organic olive oil and beeswax to keep them from drying out. Then only wipe clean with a mild soap and water. But please keep an eye on these items making sure that there is no damage to them. If there is please discontinue use of toy or remove those wooden pieces imediately!

When the fabric stores don't have the right fabric....you go to and look at bedding. The best choice ever!! I would have never thought the perfect fabric for Nevaeh's graduation dress would be a duvet cover and pillow cases.

When I say it took a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to make this dress I meant it. I was definitely blessed to make it alongside Nevaeh, but my anxiety did get the best of me on a few occasions. I am not proud of how I handled it and wish I could have put the dress together while singing just like the mice and birds in Cinderella when they made her ball gown. Haha. Instead it was much like the 3 fairies from Sleeping beauty trying to make Aurora her 16th birthday gown! πŸ€¦πŸΌπŸ˜‚.
I have to remind myself that just like most things in life that take hard work, it isn't always easy. Every minute won't be perfect, but the sense of accomplishment after all the hours of work is pretty huge. And who you are making it with and for are worth the many hours of frustration in-between starting and finishing it. I made sure to take lots of pictures so I could remember all the hard work that went into making it for my girl, with my girl because it will always be a very special time. I am so proud of her.

Last year on Mother's Day I had the privilege of watching my daughter graduate from Highschool. The ceremony was a lot of fun and very special being able to celebrate along with family and some other homeschool graduates.

What else made it special was the lead up to it. Nevaeh really wanted to make her own graduation dress. Unfortunately time did not allow her to do it on her own as she hoped so I got the privilege to do it for her. Nevaeh helped were she could and modeled A LOT through the process.

There wasn't a pattern for her dream dress so I got to have fun making it for her. There were many hours spent making samples before we started on the real dress. The samples were also part of making our own patterns too. I started with finding a free bustier pattern as I have never made one before I needed something to start with. I found one that worked great and then was able to make the adjustments we needed to make the dress Nevaeh dreamed of.

Most busier patterns were zippered backs, but we were wanting the lace up kind. We experimented with how to make one of those and I am not going to lie there was A LOT of seam ripping and redoing of the same thing, but we did get there. Eventually. Then once we figured out how to make a strapless lace up bustier we had to figure out how to make a layer on top that sort of looked like a halter top. She wanted that part to tie up at the shoulders in a bow that would have long flowy ends.

That was the first step. I think that took us about a month to figure out. After that was the tough part of trying to find fabric she liked for the dress. And that unfortunately was not an easy task.

Here it is, my !!! It only took me 33 days to purge, sort and reorganize 25 shelves, 43 drawers, 5 cupboards, 10 baskets and a china cabinet(not pictured). I guess when I layout the numbers it is easier to understand why it took me 33 days. I have been in this space for about 5 years. Lots of changes have happened over those years.
My children have grown up so much so all the little crafty things they used to use are no longer used by teenagers. Haha.
I also used to do a lot of paper crafting and less sewing now I do more sewing than paper crafts. So I needed to switch things up and really decide what was relevant to how I would use the space now.
Every surface was piling up with stuff. A few years ago I lost my two grandmother's and my mother in law in just over one year. It was a lot and I also was blessed with some of their sewing notions and fabrics. With it all coming into my space I had no idea where to put it so yarn, ribbon buttons, snaps and such were in multiple locations.

Now after all the work this last month everything has been placed in it's newly organized home. I LOVE my .

Also do you know how hard it was to not sew or work on any other projects these last 33 days?

Call me crazy. I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Since I don't have to be busy keeping the kids on track with school this week I decided it would be a perfect time to organize my craft desk. 😳 The only problem is, I really had no idea this much crap was in it.

This disaster on top of my desk isn't including the drawer full of patterns and another full of good fabric.

My goal is to see what I have and truly get my space to a place where everything has a place and space to grow into. Have you ever heard of the 80/20 rule? - I think I heard this from the Home Edit where you keep what you have but have it organized in a way that uses no more than 80% of the space and 20% empty for room to grow.

We will see in the end how this will go. A girl can dream right!?! Haha

With the change in my business goals wanting to teach more than sell physical products and also the desire to sew more of my own clothing I don't use my sewing space the same. Even in my personal life things are changing too. Our kids are teens starting to move into adulthood so I don't need the kids'crafts stored here.

My space has become overwhelming and uninviting as I collect things for the different journey I am currently on as opposed to the one I was on, if that makes sense.

So here I am looking at the disaster I created and hoping the end result will be worth it.

Has anyone else ever gone through a space like this and have words of encouragement? Haha

Well today is the day I finally sit down and finish these shoes!! March just flew by with things going on like 4 birthdays and a few friend get togethers. When I am busy like that my craft space becomes the dumping ground. It's crazy how messy the space became in such a short time. The past few days I decided it was time to clean it up. Then I found all my shoe pieces. Haha. My space is by far not clean and organized yet, but I have to take a break and finish this project at least...then I can put away that mess 😜.

update!!!! Now that I am really starting to see the take shape I am giddy with excitement. All that is left is stitching the sides and tongue/toe to the sole and putting in the grommets for the shoe laces. Ahhhh so close!!

is where I purchased the materials, sole kit and grommets.

is the one who created the pattern to make these

This past Saturday I had the best time with my mom. We took our very first weaving class and absolutely LOVED IT!!! You bet I walked away wanting to buy myself one of the rigid heddle loom and start weaving another project. This particular loom was so easy to learn on and use for both mom and I. In this class we both were able to finish our very own scarves. Our teacher was Cathy Merkley. She had a great sense of humor and came with stories of looming a raising Alpaca's. And you may have guessed she even brought some of her alpaca wool for us to use, which was so soft. I am so happy with our final product!!!

It was a very neat day. The class was held in Moose Jaw's Zion Church on Main Street. The first weekend of every month there is a group of ladies and even gentlemen that meet in the basement to knit and spin together. Not the bike kind of spinning, the spinning of yarn kind😜. The talent in that room alone was cool to see. It was awesome. I absolutely enjoyed my time and was happy that I did it with my mom.

The world of is overwhelming and so thrilling. There are so many different arts I want to try, like felting!!!!

Last summer I came across this smocked fabric in fabricland. I immediately fell in love with the colours and pattern and knew I wanted to make a cute summer dress. I found many different tutorials to make this dress on YouTube so it made it easy to sew using only your measurements.

This project actually spurred on the idea of making my own clothing again. This has been a challenge for me since high school. With all my body changes, sewing a typical pattern without alterations became impossible. I haven't had the courage to take on learning alterations until this year. I am challenging myself to start making my own clothing again by taking a few classes myself and growing in the craft I love.

Have any of you done cross stitch? I have done many embroidery projects, but never . When I came across this one featuring I couldn't resist trying it out. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be, yet it still wasn't a favorite. Even though I enjoyed this project I probably won't plan on doing another anytime soon. Here are a few reasons why. 1) I didn't love that I had to count where to put my x stitches. That meant I had to pay close attention to what I was doing and couldn't do it while watching TV. If I did I ended up making mistakes. 2) I don't love the look of cross stitch the same way I do embroidered projects. Embroidered projects have so much more variety in stitches and texture. 3) The weave material is also something I don't love working with or the look of. I love cotton fabric most often used in quilting and embroidery projects. It's softer and just prettier.
