It would appear that Norm has some sanding to do 👀👀 I’m very excited for the new designs we have cooked up for this year’s , as well as some old favourites. Everything will be added to our website after next weekend as well, for online shopping options — lots of great stocking stuffer ideas (it’s not too early to say that, right?!).

When you realize is less than a week away! 😅

Life in 2025 has been a lot of juggling; full time gig, precocious preschooler with no daycare, Smash Knits, family life, some semblance of health and wellness, and some super lofty goals like read 52 books & learn a new language. And also, figure out the secret to having more hours in a day!

All this to say we have been working at building stock when we can and are super excited to show up next Friday & Saturday with hopefully a little something for most everyone!

New wooden tools & notions, lots of project bags and yarn keepers, loads of fibre in neutrals and punchy colourways alike, and plenty of bulky, squishy skeins for quick gift knitting, as well as moody hues on fi*****ng weight for that special, slow stitching project.

We are excited to see some familiar and new faces and soak in all the handmade goodness to kick off September. Hope to see you there! 🐏

Hard to believe it’s already MAY 😳 We are emerging from the dregs of winter and will be hanging out in all of the quilty yarny goodness this weekend in Morden, MB. If you’re in Southern Manitoba, come say hello!

SÚPER jazzed to have a new little cafe that has opened in our neck of the woods - it’s the perfect spot to wait out gymnastics sessions, get in a few pages of my latest read and of course - whip out some knitting. I was able to cozy up in the corner of and get in some stitches while sipping some delicious loose leaf tea. It’s a clean, quaint and inviting space with many cute vintage accents - including some beautiful needlework pieces. I know I’ll be back soon!

Finally able to cast on my Gambit Grid cowl using some of our Land of the Silver Birch on DK and a gorgeous earthy, tweedy handspun skein from . This is such an intuitive knit after the first few rows and I’m really enjoying seeing it come together!

Last two spins of 2024 and first of 2025 🥰

Happy very belated 2025 to everyone! It’s hard to believe we are already almost through the first month of the year. 2024 was a rough one in a few ways - I don’t think I’ve ever had so many colds/flus/malaise - so I am hopefully this year ahead has healthier days in store. We really appreciate all of the continued support from so many of you even if we haven’t been as present on the socials ☺️

I was able to get a decent (for me) amount of spinning done towards the back half of the year; here are the results, which I’m so pleased with! I’m planning to participate in the Gambit Cowl KAL hosted by Samantha Guerin which commences tomorrow - and my swap skein arrived just in time - I’ll share that soon!

In other news, keep your eyes peeled for a fibre sale starting next week ahead of “Fibre-uary”, as well as a market announcement!

Our last market of 2024 - you’ll be able to find Smash Knits hanging out in Steinbach this upcoming weekend for the .ca Christmas Market! If you’re in the southern Manitoba area come stop by and grab some stocking stuffers for yourself or the yarny people in your life. We will have lots of stitch markers, wooden notions, mini skein sets, yarn cozies, some fibre and a small assortment of our hand dyed yarn on hand. 🧶
