Where have I been? What have I been doing? Why have I not posted a painting in forever?
In March, I was commissioned to do a portrait of a very special little dog who had recently crossed over the rainbow bridge. Firstly, I am not a pet portrait artist so there’s that. Secondly, there is a lot of pressure in a painting like that. The subject is very special, and very dear to the owner’s heart. If something is not right, the feeling of the pet is lost. I can’t tell you how many times I did this, and redid it, and redid it again.. I touched it up, tweaked it, practically started over and just kept at it. I finally came to the point where I knew it was love it or leave it. I do hope I captured the essence of beautiful little Beatrix. This is 8x10x1.5” oil on canvas.
As I have been reminded, I said I wanted to do something that was a challenge. I got my wish. 🙂
