We’re all set up at the Capital Pride street fair, where we’ll be all day today and tomorrow. And we want to be very clear: we have done what we can to pressure the organizers to renew their statement of support for Palestine, and they have not. We’re hanging a Palestinian flag to make it very clear where we stand on the issue, and as a starting point for education where there’s an opportunity for it. The answer is here! (And I bet the new photo helps a lot, too!) The restock we posted a photo of yesterday, and that appears here once it’s fully turned into soap, is our best-selling Lemon Lavender! We use natural alkanet root colour in this lovely soap and alkanet is what’s called a PH-dependent colour. That means that when we add the (very alkaline) lye to it, it turns bright blue! Before that, the oil infused with alkanet is actually a brilliant fuchsia red, so a big colour change happens right before our eyes! The saponification (chemical reaction that produces soap) brings the PH down a bit, but the final soap is still a bit alkaline, so we end up with a colour that splits the difference: a gorgeous purple! Sometimes our small business pals order custom soap designs, and it’s so fun to bring their vision to life! This is a super cute soap for our buddy, Sarah, who’s one of the folks running Bewitched by in the this summer! You might remember Sarah from because of her gorgeous candles, but there’s so much more than candles at this popup! Check out all sorts of goodies at the York Street median (near 6 York Street if you need to GPS it!), including these super limited edition maple leaf soaps! 🍁🧼

Our tiny business can only make a few different Pride Flag soaps per year, so we always include the rainbow flag to catch the babes who identify in ways we haven’t already represented. This pretty Q***r Pride Flag palette includes luscious brown and elegant black in the Philadelphia Pride tradition, in order to give extra love to our q***r family of colour, who can often go overlooked in the community. No matter how you identify, we hope you love the rainbow look and citrusy fresh smell of this soap this year! It’ll be available at our two May markets coming up:
