The last of my endangered animals for a little bit…. the African Forest Elephant! 🐘🐘

They are the smallest of the three living elephant species. These elephants reach maturity later (around 23 for their first pregnancy) and usually 5-6 years between calves. 🍼🍼You can see why population recovery is slow with these numbers …

Unfortunately these beauties are critically endangered with a decrease of over 80% of population over the last three decades. 📉📉

I am SO excited to share this one with you!!! It’s a pangolin!! 🤩🤩

Another new creature I have learned about recently. They are the only mammals covered in overlapping scales. They are toothless and have a long tongue for eating termites. Because of their termite diet, they are know as the “guardians of the forest”. 🌳🌳

Due to the high demand for their scales, habitat loss and international trade, these are a critically endangered species. 😢😢

Happy Earth Day!! 🌎

I just love nature so much (can you tell? 😅😅) Today’s feature is …. The Black Footed Ferret!

These little faces are nocturnal and lead very private lifestyles. Over 90% of their diet is prairie dogs. At one point they were thought to be extinct! Conservation efforts have paid off, but they remain an endangered species.

This is the last of my 8x8s for now… I am beyond excited to share with you what is next !!! 😁😁

I couldn’t help but keep painting some more vulnerable little friends after selling three (eep!! thank you!! 🎉🎉) for the HeArtful Soul Collective Auction…

This is the quokka !!! They are called the happiest animals on earth because of their cute little smiles!! 😍😍

They are nocturnal, great climbers and can go weeks without eating and months without drinking fresh water by hydrating from plants. 🌱🌱

Although they look like large rodents, they are more closely related to kangaroos and wallabies. 🦘🦘

Nature is just so cool😃😃

Tell me, have you heard of these Australian marsupials before and does this one make you smile?? 🤔🤔
