Today Kensington Design House officially opens its doors.

You’ve heard a little about what we’re building. Today, we wanted you to meet us.

KDH grew out of the way Rich and I have always looked at home from different perspectives, and what happens when these perspectives come together.

We’re so excited to share with you.

Thank you to Callie Cranford (Webster) for helping us tell our story and to Morrison Millwork for giving us such a beautiful place to do it.

Welcome to Kensington Design House.

Ending a chapter and beginning a new one. I came to Bali to determine how I want to soak up the next chapter. The entrance to the villa immediately put me in the headspace to truly settle into myself and my truth. Less than a week from the launch of Kensington Design House and the setting only reinforced what we’re building. The villa created the foundation for me to fully embrace the women, the community and experiences that made Self Connect Retreats | Bali so impactful. More to come!

This week has been all about momentum.

With Elizabeth in Bali and the official launch of Kensington Design House getting closer, there’s been no shortage of work happening behind the scenes — while the Daniel Island project continues to move forward.

One of the pieces I’m most excited about is the KDH Home Environment Study. We’re building it to look beyond how a home looks and begin asking a more important question: How well is your home actually supporting the people who live in it?

The study will evaluate the home through the lens of health, wellness, comfort and overall quality of the living environment — and ultimately help us make better, more intentional design decisions.

Before we officially roll it out, we’re looking for a small group of people who would like to participate in our pilot Home Environment Studies.

Interested in having your home evaluated? Send us a DM. We’d love to hear from you.

A lot happening. A lot still to do. But KDH is getting closer every day.

Rich surprised me with a trip to Bali this week.
And it reminded me how lovely it is to be surprised by someone who knows you well enough to know when you might need it.
So before I leave, I wanted to pass a little of that feeling on.
I’ve been tagging pieces for the KDH Living Showroom, and this beautiful woven garlic basket is going to one of you.
But there are actually two surprises.
Choose one person you’d love to surprise. Tag them below and tell me why.
Make sure you’re both following Kensington Design House | Charleston Interior Design.
When I’m back from Bali, I’ll choose one pair.
They’ll receive this piece from the Living Showroom.
And I’ll bring something home from Bali for you.
One person. One nomination. One little reminder that sometimes it’s really nice to be thought of.
Giveaway closes August 26th at 6:00PM ET. Open to U.S. residents 18+. One entry per person. Winner will be contacted only by Kensington Design House | Charleston Interior Design. No purchase necessary. This giveaway is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Instagram.

Our daughter left for college this week.

Rich decided I need a little space before the next chapter begins, so he surprised me with a trip to Bali.

I’ll be slowing down, paying attention and sharing some of what I notice along the way- nature, design, ritual and how a place can truly shape how we feel.

Come with me.i will be sharing a surprise before I leave.

It’s a big week for the Daniel Island project!

Since the kitchen is on the smaller side, our design vision centers on letting the natural light and nature pour in. We want the space to feel like a deep exhale when you walk in.

For that feeling of quiet luxury, we are leaning into a layered blend of truly timeless materials that include honed stone, pure metals and textural linens.

Things are officially moving ahead. Cabinetry has been ordered in the perfect warm neutral (accessible beige), and we’ve spent the last few days touring stone yards and visiting the Cregger Showroom to nail down our slabs, lighting and appliances.

When it comes to a timeless kitchen, what can’t you live without? State of the art appliances, statement stone, elevated hood, lighting??

Ever notice how some rooms feel chaotic not calm?

For my Science of Design coursework, I tested one of our projects using predictive visual attention mapping. The data proved my instinct. Focus bounced everywhere in the original room, while the after space gave the layered space clear anchors. True visual rest is a deep breath for your nervous system.

As we prepare for launch, we continue to explore how or make the invisible parts of design more visible: where the eye goes, what the body notices and why some rooms feel better than others.

Your home is an active participant in your health. If your space works against your body, even your best wellness habits are fighting an uphill battle.

That’s exactly why Rich and I are headed to West Palm for the Eudēmonia Summit this November 5-8th! We will be talking about how light, sound, air, and the flow of your home dictate how you sleep, recover, regulate stress and support longevity.

At KDH, we believe a home must support your biology before it can be beautiful. We’d love to connect in person and talk design over coffee.

Not registered yet? Comment “WELLNESS” below. I will send you a link for $100 off your Summit ticket, and we can schedule that coffee!

The rooms at Daniel Island may still be empty, but the vision is beginning to take shape.

We spent the weekend in Savannah, looking for pieces and inspiration that could bring warmth, texture and life to the dining nook space. Some of the vessels we found also started a larger conversation about what we might actually grow there. The right plants can soften a space, bring nature in and support a healthier home.

A beautiful night with Charleston Home + Design.

We’re still finding our footing in this new chapter, but evenings like this make Charleston feel more and more like the right place to build Kensington Design House.

Grateful for the lovely conversations and positive feedback on what we’re building! So appreciate the people who make this design community so alive.

Thank you Charleston Home + Design for the lovely evening at Charleston Design Center
