I was tearing this morning...😔 It was the first morning without my flock. Without the clucking noises, without the hens where I bonded with for over years and years. All gone....😭

To their new farms, I am happy I get photo updates from their new owners happy running over acres of green fields. ✨️

Sometimes you need to do what is the best for you. For you and your family. So I choose to have a little break of chickens this season. And focus on my kids and 4 dogs. To train them properly and invest the time.

Next spring I would love to build up a new flock of chickens from different orpington breeders and build the best quality back again! ❤️ I will come back at some point with healthy and strong birds.

I want to thank all the customers over the last years.💕 Without your trust and love for my little homestead I wouldn't be where I am right now. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had to cull a chicken this evening, and the kids wanted to watch.

I think it's important for them to learn what real life on a small homestead is like. When you own animals, you also have the responsibility of knowing when it's time to let them go and doing what needs to be done.

So we chopped the chicken's head off, and River immediately said, "Mommy, again, again!" 🤣 I explained why that wasn't possible.

Then she said, "Okay, Mom, burn it now."

She helped me build a fire, and afterward we sat together and enjoyed the view of the moon..🌙
