Hey all! I’m Felicia, the brains behind this operation, the woman behind the wax 🧠🤓

Since the internet likes when people show their face, I figured why not take this opportunity to formally introduce myself!

As of right now, I’m 34… that will probably change.

Since childhood, I’ve been creating, planning and imagining artistic projects I’d like to conquer… that probably won’t change.

I enjoy crafting, photography, makeup, writing, thrifting, and spending time with my family and friends. In a past life (a few years ago) I was a professional makeup artist. That lasted nearly a decade before I decided to pivot.

I’m a mother to a human and two cats. The human I mother is the actual best, no contest. Yes, I’m completely biased. No, you cannot convince me otherwise.

I grew up and currently live on Vancouver Island. A Canadian paradise, often called “The California of Canada” for its temperate weather and excellent herbs… if you know, you know.

I’ve always been in love with candles, wax, and fire 🔥
A little pyro at heart, my parents let me play with fire at a young age, showing me the “finger through the flame” trick when I was under the age of ten, to say it left a lasting impression on me would be an understatement… it was the 90s, what can I say 🤷🏻‍♀️

I started this business as a way to:
1. Work from home so I can be more present for my son
2. Remain in a creative space that challenges me and keeps me on my toes
3. To build something I’m so very proud of as a part of my legacy.

To you this may be just another small business, but to me, it’s an opportunity to grow, learn and thrive.

Welcome to day 5 of introducing our Bodies!

Today we are introducing the successful and exceedingly brave:

✨Michael✨

Micheal’s namesake comes from the first transgender man who underwent gender confirmation surgery during the early 1900s’ and against all odds, was a highly successful human being.

✨Micheal was born in 1915 and became a British physician and author. Like all transgender people, he never felt comfortable in his female body. He hated female clothing and wholly rejected the advances of other men. Micheal bravely wore male clothing as he’d rather put up with insults and jabs rather than wear what was socially acceptable.

✨By 1940, Micheal had completed his hormone therapy and set out to find a surgeon who could help him continue with gender-reaffirming surgery. He found Sir Harold Gillies who was one of the founding fathers of plastic surgery. Gillies was renowned for his specialized and innovative surgical techniques.

✨Gillies’s unit at the hospital was known for providing a supportive environment for his patients, offering not only advanced medical treatment but also psychological and social support for his patients.

We love a holistic approach to medicine.

✨Worlds collided when Micheal encountered Robeta Cowell, the first transgender woman to also go through gender-affirming care and surgery. Micheal was able to offer support, advice and guidance to Cowell based on his own experiences.

✨ Micheal began to face many challenges and discrimination because of his identity, which made it difficult for him to continue his medical practice. He became eager to find a more accepting environment where he could freely express his gender identity without the threat of prejudice or discrimination.

✨By 1949 Micheal moved to India and became a Buddhist monk where he lived for around 13 years, where he experienced a more tolerant and enriching spiritual life. He tragically passed away in a traffic accident in 1962.

✨Micheal reminds us that the pursuit of happiness means honouring who we are on the inside and that when we do, it shines through on the outside 🤍

Welcome to day 4 of introducing our Bodies!

Today we are introducing the exquisitely athletic:

✨Simone✨

Simone’s namesake comes from the woman who dominated the gymnastic space and redefined prioritizing mental health, Simone Biles.

✨Simone was destined for greatness. She began competing in gymnastics at the age of 16. She secured two gold medals at the Antwerp Championship, where she made history by perfectly executing a double layout with a half-twist.

✨This woman makes it rain gold medals, holding the record of 23 World gold medals! As well as the record number of World all-around titles coming in at 6, all by the age of 25 🤯

✨In 2019, Simone wowed and astounded judges by attempting a new move, now named The Biles II which, for all the gymnasts out there, was a double tucked backflip with a triple twist. She currently has five distinct gymnastic moves across floor, balance, beam and vault.

✨If those feats of strength weren’t enough, she showed the world a different kind of strength when she prioritized her mental health over her gymnastic events. She has since become an advocate for mental health, sparking some vital conversations about the intense pressure that athletes face.

✨Simone is the embodiment of small but mighty, coming in at 4 feet 8 inches. Reminding us that our size does not equate to the depth of our power and strength. Simone reminds us that, not only can we achieve our wildest dreams, but we can do it while honouring our mental health. If that isn’t fierce, we don’t know what is.

Welcome to day 3 of introducing our Bodies!

Today we are introducing the beautiful powerhouse:

✨Ida✨

Ida’s Namesake comes from the OG Rebel, Ida B. Wells.

✨If you’re unfamiliar, Ida was an American investigative journalist, educator and one of the early leaders of the civil rights movement. She was also one of the founders of the NAACP, an organization that is still doing amazing work present day. In other words, she was a certified badass.

✨She dedicated her career to fighting injustice, prejudice, and violence. She was an advocate of African-American equality, especially for women during the late 1800s’ into the early 1900s’.

✨She exposed the brutalities of Lynching by analyzing its sociology, arguing that Whites used lynching as a way to terrorize Black people in the South because they represented a threat politically and economically, which ultimately meant a threat to White power. She aimed to demonstrate the truth about this type of violence by advocating measures to stop it.

✨Ida was a skilled and persuasive speaker, she travelled nationally and internationally on lecture tours, sharing her ideas and her findings.

✨Miss Wells was determined, smart, and so incredibly strong, that we want to honour her name and all that she accomplished, despite the danger and threats she received.

Welcome to day 2 of introducing our Bodies!

Today we’re introducing one of our favourite candles:

✨Norma✨

Norma’s Namesake comes from none other than pop culture icon, Norma Jean Mortenson/Baker, otherwise known as Marilyn Monroe.

✨We chose her given name because even though her stage name is iconic, we wanted to pay homage to the woman behind the name 💪

✨For a time, Norma developed a stutter. This was likely due to her anxiety and the amount of times she had to switch foster homes, some of which were abusive. A speech coach had to help her with her stutter which is how she developed the breathy, sultury of speaking voice that she became famous for.

✨She was a skilled seamstress. It was she who designed and sewed her iconic white dress in the movie “The Seven Year Itch”. Yeah, THAT white dress.

✨Norma was a girls girl. She helped Ella Fitzgerald secure a gig at a prestigious nightclub owned by her friend Charlie Morrison. This was a big turning point in Ellas’ career and some suggest that this act of solidarity created a ripple effect, encouraging other nightclubs to open their doors to Black singers. Iconic.

✨Miss Norma loved to cook and was quite good at it. She loved a good steak and often paired it with crunchy carrots. Sounds yum.

✨Norma was profoundly intelligent, with an IQ of 165, five points higher than Albert Einstein. This gives new meaning and irony to the term “Dumb Blonde”.

Welcome to day 1 of introducing our Bodies!

Today we’re introducing our smallest but mightiest body candle:

✨Venus✨

✨Her namesake comes from the Venus of Willindorf, an ancient sculpture found in Austria in 1908, which was discovered to have been created around 25,000-28,000 BCE. Predating written language. The statuette is made of limestone and is a whopping 11 cm tall! Small but mighty. We think this makes our candle the perfect candidate for her namesake.

✨Her purpose and interpretations are fascinating. Some believe that she was associated with fertility, a fertility goddess if you will. Some theorize that she was a tool for worship in hopes of fertility, and others theorize that she was an example of the ideal body type for survival and childbearing.

✨Knowing for certain what the intentions behind her creation are is virtually impossible, as there is no written explanation as to why she is the way she is.

✨This is why we are so inspired by her. Present day, she reminds us that a woman’s body has been under speculation, scrutiny and a source of conversation for a very, very long time. It also reminds us that a woman’s body and ability to survive under some of the harshest circumstances have been revered for centuries. It teaches us that women are to be honoured and respected no matter what shape they are. We think that’s pretty badass.

✨Though some scholars reject the name “Venus” as part of her name, we lean into it. After all, women are goddesses, whether they choose to give life or

Introducing my pride and joy, Rebel Wax!

Rebel Wax is all about infusing a splash of joy into the mundane. This is not the average candle company; we're disruptors in the wax world, kicking wax and taking names if you will. Our Goal? To fascinate and ignite excitement while keeping things human and pet friendly.

Crafted from 100% soy wax and sans anything toxic, our candles are an opportunity for guilt-free indulgence. It's a win-win situation, who doesn’t love that?

Get ready to meet the whole gang as we shine the spotlight on each unique candle in the days to come! Stay tuned for new additions and options that are patiently waiting in the queue over the next few months.
