Knot Yer Nan's Crochet Hi, I'm Joanne Green, Maker, Owner, CEO and the funny, crafty gal behind the Knot Yer Nan's Crochet.

Hi, I'm Joanne Green, Maker, Owner, CEO, and the funny, crafty gal behind the Knot Yer Nan's Crochet By MamaJo. My journey with crochet began when my home economics teacher got me hooked as a teenager. Her passion and patience in teaching a first-time crocheter left a lasting impression on me. What fascinated me the most was the magic of taking simple yarn and transforming it into fabric—then turning that fabric into something meaningful, like a cozy wearable. That feeling of creating something from scratch was both thrilling and rewarding. Then, years later, my passion was reignited when I worked on my first baby bunting bag for my cousin’s new baby. The joy of crafting something with my hands returned, and I found myself picking up my hook more often, creating blankets for my own children. With every stitch, I felt a sense of accomplishment and realized just how much crochet meant to me. One of my most cherished early projects was a baby blanket I made for my firstborn. Though my stitches weren’t perfect, the love and care woven into every loop made it special. Life moved on, and for a time, crochet took a backseat as I focused on family and other responsibilities. Today, crochet is more than just a craft—it’s a source of peace and comfort. It calms me during stressful times and allows me to express creativity in a way that feels deeply personal. More than anything, I hope my handmade pieces bring joy, warmth, and a sense of coziness to others. Each item I create carries a little piece of my heart, stitched with love and intention, ready to bring comfort to someone else’s home.

Just wrapped up testing the Jeobneun Ring Towel Holder for Amanda Woodbury over at ! ✨

I tested the chain ring version, and I really got into the Jeobneun technique! I loved watching the construction come together, and the finished piece looks so chic. It was such a quick and easy project. I’m definitely going to be making more of these for around the house! 🧶

This pattern isn't officially released yet, but be sure to give Amanda a follow and keep an eye out for the upcoming pattern drop!

Just wrapped up testing the adorable Baby Ghost Beanie for Amanda Woodbury over at .designs! 👻✨

I made the newborn size, and it’s giving total cuteness overload! It's a super quick and easy project, and the pattern instructions are so clear and simple to follow. My favourite detail has to be the brim, that texture adds the sweetest touch! 🧶

This pattern isn't officially released yet, but definitely keep an eye out for it; you’re going to want this one on your hook as soon as it drops!

I was scrolling my phone for another photo and found these gems my student created. 💎 Check them out 👇🏻

Proud Instructor Moment! 🧶✨

A few months ago, I stepped out of my comfort zone and taught my very first crochet student. Fast forward to today, and she’s not just following patterns; she’s actually crocheting her own original designs! 🥹 Down below are a few photos of the incredible projects she’s created. And of her certificate. I couldn’t be prouder of her progress!

Honestly, I couldn’t have done it without the American Crochet Association’s Crochet Instructor Training Course. As a student of the program myself, it gave me the exact tools, structure, and confidence I needed to go from "Can I really do this?" to guiding someone else on their crochet journey.

If you’ve ever had that itch to teach, or if people keep asking you, "When are you going to teach me how to crochet?" This is your sign to start!

💡 Ready to share your passion for crochet with others?

It's fabulous being a tester!! I recently tested for Lisa this Freya the Fox Hacky Sack. It was so fun to make. I used a knee-high stocking filled with poly pellets to stuff this cutie to use as a hackysack/footbag; the craze is back, or did it ever leave!! Lisa's pattern is so easy & fun to work up, with alternative options to make a plushie or add fastenings for an adorable charm.
