Almost there. The final chapters. The final reviews. The final push. The final 2 practicums and 1 last assignment to hand in.

For the past 18 months I’ve been on a journey - a different cancer journey of sorts. By the end of this week, I will be a Certified Cancer Coach.

It was a calling. A very strong one. And one that came out of my own breast cancer journey. Looking back I see very clearly that my cancer experience was definitely a gift wrapped in barbed wire (thank you Stefanie Pelton Hatcher for this phrase that I use often for myself and share liberally with others).

Cancer gave me clarity. Cancer allowed me to really identify what was important and what was less so. Cancer gave me purpose. Cancer solidified my values. Cancer lead me to be of service. And for all that and more I am so grateful.

And after this week, I will be… A CERTIFIED CANCER COACH!!!

On Sunday my brother ran the SL10K for Campfire Circle on Mother’s Day.

Ken has been participated over the past 10 years and now that I’m working at Campfire Circle it was extra-special being at the end and share in the joy of bringing healing through happiness for kids with cancer and childhood illnesses.

My heart is so full… we raised $2.6M!!!

Wooohoooo! To all those who ran, walked, strolled, fundraised and supported… WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!!!

You know what I’ve gotten really good at lately?

Finding joy… in the most unexpected places. 💫

Like tonight…

I accidentally landed on the Kentucky Derby on TV
…and instead of scrolling past?

I leaned ALL the way in.

Out came the fancy hat.
Mocktail in hand.
Suddenly I’m fully invested like I’ve been following the horses all season. 😂

And honestly?
It felt SO good.

The horses… just majestic.
The names? Pure creativity gold.
The jockey silks? Bright, bold, joyful little works of art.

And there I am… on a random Saturday night…
completely delighted.

✨

Since my cancer journey…
and stepping into this new decade…

I don’t wait for the “big things” anymore.

I don’t save joy for special occasions.

I notice it.
I choose it.
I create it… even if it starts with something as simple as a TV moment and a hat.

Because here’s the truth no one tells you enough:

Joy isn’t something you find.
It’s something you let yourself step into.

Right here.
Right now.
In the smallest, silliest, most ordinary moments.

Last year I tried Soma’s Rhubarb gelato for the first time. It’s made with forced rhubarb - an early spring speciality that is over in an instant. The pretty light pink stalks and magically whipped into the freshest most luscious gelato I have ever had! And since that day, I have been craving it.

Today I went to Brock Street location and bought two pints of this DELICIOUS Twilight Rhubarb gelato.

And on this gorgeously warm and sunny Earth Day, I’m satisfying my craving with a bowl of this deliciousness. Life is friggn fantastic right now.
