Imagine renovating your home once, and then coming back 25 years later because your family has basically outgrown the floor plan. That was our Golf Course Lane Project clients.

Their kids are grown, there are grandchildren in the mix now, and family gatherings look very different than they did when they last renovated. They didn’t necessarily need more house. They needed the house they already loved to bring everyone together better.

The old main floor felt tight and divided, so we opened things up and made this living room part of a much more connected layout. Now people can cook, eat, lounge, wrangle grandchildren and still actually feel like they’re all together.

Can we all agree that powder rooms are basically permission to have a little more fun? Especially when the space right outside already has this much going for it.

Project Durand is a beautiful old Queen Anne manor, and we really didn’t want to mess with all the character that made it special in the first place. So in the entry, we kept things light and let the gorgeous staircase, millwork and original details have their moment.

But then you peek into the powder room and…okay, different story. Deep charcoal walls, warm wood, a big chunky stone sink and that curved ceiling. It’s moody, a little unexpected and just so good tucked into an otherwise bright part of the house.

We’ve been sitting on this one and it’s FINALLY time. Introducing Project Golf Course Lane, our latest full service home renovation in Etobicoke.

The starting point? A home last renovated 25 years ago, a very close family that had grown considerably since then, and clients who wanted hosting everyone to feel a whole lot easier.

We rethought how the main floor connects, made room for the way they cook, gather and entertain now, and created a much more cohesive flow throughout — while still making the home feel like theirs.

And there’s a lovely story behind the trust these clients placed in us too. For now, consider this your first peek. We’ll be getting into ALL the good stuff soon.

Have you ever noticed how much stuff needs a home within like five seconds of walking through the front door? Shoes, bags, coats, keys… all the everyday things that can make an entry feel chaotic really quickly.

Our Annex clients’ original foyer just wasn’t doing enough for them, so during their home renovation we completely rethought it. We added serious closed storage and a long bench where you can comfortably sit down, drop your bag and take your shoes off.

We kept the design around it simple, because honestly… when your home comes with original stained-glass windows this good, you let them have their moment.

Here's a quick tour of a home that proves you do not have to knock down every wall to make a main floor flow better. We’ll start in the kitchen, opened up around that generous dry island. From there, the dining area gets its own identity, with a built-in banquette instead of a formal dining setup.

Around the corner? A moody burgundy powder room that feels like a complete little departure from everything you’ve seen so far. Then back into the bright entry, where we managed to tuck that powder room into the existing foyer.

Our client is sensitive to noise, so connection without completely open concept was actually the goal here.

A few more from Italy because there were just too many good details not to share. The stone, the old doors, the gardens, the pizza… all of it.

Designing a kid’s room that they’ll still love when they’re suddenly WAY too cool for everything is quite the assignment. That was a big part of our thinking at Chiltern Hill.

We wanted this bedroom to feel special and playful now, without designing something our client would need to completely redo a few years later. So instead of leaning into anything overly juvenile, we built the personality through texture and colour: dusty coral, soft grey, warm wood, hits of black and lots of tactile layers. It still has that little bit of fun a kid’s room should have, but it has plenty of growing room built in too.

A renovation budget shouldn’t start with “what can we afford?” and end there. The better question is: what do we actually want this renovation to change about how we live?

Maybe hosting is a huge part of your life. Maybe storage is driving you insane. Maybe you’d happily invest more in the kitchen but couldn’t care less about fancy finishes elsewhere.

That context matters when deciding where your money goes.
It’s one of the things we unpack in our free Planning Your Home Renovation guide, alongside defining your scope, deciding where to splurge and understanding who you’ll need on your team.

Tiny design hill we’ll happily die on: your entryway shouldn’t make you sidestep furniture the second you come home.

We wanted Cedarvale to have that open, light California feeling our clients loved, so keeping the arrival experience visually calm mattered too. Instead of filling the middle of the space, we worked the function into the perimeter: streamlined floor-to-ceiling storage at the end, a slim bench along the wall, and a narrow console that gives you that very necessary little landing spot without eating into circulation.
