Mothers are held to such high standards!
And this is how it should be, because mothers have
the most important job in the world.
But moms are just people: struggling, healing, loving, working hard to raise others.
As I grew up, I saw my Mom's flaws and imperfections. When I became a mother myself, I learned that perfection does not exist. My lesson in humility.
Perfection, I'm learning, is never the goal.
The best lessons, the ones that truly shape us, come from imperfection. From pain, we learn healing. From hurt, we learn forgiveness. From holding on, we learn to let go.
Like a bird with two wings, one fear, the other love. Only with two wings can we fly.
This Sunday, I hope you'll reflect upon the beautiful imperfection of your Mom and what this has taught you.
And if you're a mother yourself, to take a minute to forgive and accept your own imperfections. After all, it is though our struggles that we grow stronger and the bond between us deepens.
