What a Night at Cambridge Celebration of the Arts opening night🎨🎭

Truly honored to have “Greta: my portrait of an angry young woman “ chosen from over 400 submissions to be featured at City Hall during the festival.Still kind of pinching myself about that one!

I kept coming back to my portrait of Greta thinking “she needs to pop.” This woman is fierce and resilient, and the painting wasn’t quite matching that energy yet.
So I ignored the chorus of “put the brush down, Salma” and went in with another layer of resin.
best decision ever!
The depth it gave the colors is genuinely unreal ,the kind of thing you have to see in person. ✨
So If you’re in the Waterloo Region, Greta’s currently hanging at Cambridge City Hall for the Cambridge Festival of the Arts , until June 26th. Go see the glossy finish for yourself and cast your vote for people’s choice awards.🏛️🎨

Currant Affairs There’s always room on the shelf for one more book and one more piece of art… always. Reading and painting are how I fill my cup back up, so I can quite the noise in my head, and somehow find the energy to get up and do more things. They’re my mental maintenance!

My mantra for the day!
Social media feels like a job of its own sometimes.
I am grateful it got me connected with so many people around the world I would have probably never met in a lifetime, but I don’t appreciate the algorithm tricking me all the time.
