This weekend I finally saw Chris Nolan’s Odyssey🏛️

Funny thing about this story … every retelling picks a different angle to focus on!

This is Nolan’s version! He gives Penelope her voice back (finally), she’s not just the woman waiting by the loom this time. But her maids? Not so much.

BUT if you read Margaret Atwood’s version, the one that actually inspired this painting, In The Penelopiad, it’s Penelope AND her maids telling the story of the injustices they suffered.

With the Odyssey trending everywhere as we all eagerly wait for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming adaptation, I couldn’t help but share this piece inspired by the one and only Madeline Miller . 🏛️✨
If you haven’t read her take on Circe, it is an absolute must-read. It completely reshaped how I view this figure, not just as a character in the Odyssey, but as the original architect of her own power.I’ve tried to channel that specific energy and her nuanced portrayal of Circe directly onto the canvas.
