I'm all set up and ready for the public!!

The Balthazar Festival opens its doors to the public at 17h00 this evening (Friday 29 May). The festival runs all weekend and includes an excellent collection of over 80 artists and artisans, food and refreshments, and music this evening!!

Europe's largest beetle, the Stag Beetle (Lucanus Cervus)

These amazing insects are unfortunately on the red list and classified as vulnerable in Switzerland. They inhabit the lower elevation forests and rely on dead wood.

They are protected species and efforts are currently being made to protect the remaining populations.

Fabricating The Hoopoe paper sculpture. The feathers are slowly cut one by one and glued in place. This process will be repeated to cover the entire sculpture.

The Eurasian Lynx. He's stepping right out of the matt board.

When I fabricated these white on white paper sculptures, I have to think about the way the light is going to impact the surface. The shadows and highlights create a sense of depth and bring out the textures in the fur.

I still need to add his whiskers but only once it is permanently framed.

What shall I call this one?
