Twenty years later, I came back to Arezzo, where Monica Dengo and I first met.

One thing I always love about Monica’s workshops is the group she brings together. This time, women came from Australia, the US, Canada and different parts of Europe. We were all from different places, but after only a few hours around the same table, it felt as if we all came from the same country.

For three days, we could spend the whole day drawing.

For me, that is already la vita è bella.

And Arezzo gave us beautiful architecture and wonderful food as well.

Twenty years later, I came back to Arezzo, where Monica Dengo and I first met.

One thing I always love about Monica’s workshops is the group she brings together. This time, women came from Australia, the US, Canada and different parts of Europe. Luminous and Uncanny Cities

I keep returning to cities through their traces, things seen, remembered, forgotten, found again.

A crack in the pavement.
A line crossing a façade.
An old letter.
A fragment of porcelain.
A drawing becoming a page, an object, a space.

Somewhere between what the city holds and what I carry with me, the work begins.

Last night, exhibition MA opened at Gallery.

Through Japanese paper, artist’s books, and porcelain, drawing unfolds as a trace, a gesture of memory and a search for the space in between.

The exhibition is on view until 17 June.

I will be at the gallery on Monday and Tuesday from 16:00–20:00, and during the weekend by appointment.

For eight days, I was simply an artist.

For the first time in a long while, I found myself alone with my work again, fully immersed in an artistic environment, surrounded by people who speak the same language, even when they come from different parts of the world.

The eight days I spent in Japan marked my first independent artist residency in more than thirteen years.

In a way, the experience brought me back to myself while moving me forward at the same time, something I did not know was possible.

What I often seek through my work, a kind of artistic Esperanto, a space where people connect beyond geography, culture, and language, became a lived experience during those days of intense work, conversations, and encounters.

The impressions are still settling. They continue to unfold and have already found their way into MA, the exhibition that grew out of this experience.

It was an experience I had hoped for for a long time, yet one that exceeded anything I could have imagined.
