What happens to your heirloom chairs when they come to us for restoring?
We discuss their history and future with you, then closely examine their condition to make a suitable repair plan. Loved objects last, and the chairs that are brought to our workshop have great emotional importance for their owners. Repairing them ensures they can serve their purpose for decades & generations to come, pass the stories on.

What happens to your heirloom chairs when they come to us for restoring?
We discuss their history and future, then closely examine their condition to make a repair plan.
In a wholesome restoration, we fix/replace any broken parts, glue the joints if needed, apply a new surface finishing, and weave the seat with local tónos, cattail cord.
This set of chairs isn't from Cyprus, but Monastiraki, Athens (Greece) in the 1970s. Their elegant style required a shellac finishing (see earlier post for photos before restoration)

The festival season is now officially over for us. Thank you for all the heartwarming encounters, it was a pleasure! Now we are diving into our project, we will keep you posted.
This is a new design prototype we made some years ago, that needed a new seat weaving.

The Limassol w**e festival that lasted nine evenings is now over. Even though it's a very demanding period of work in the loud music from numerous stages, the smoke from the stalls smoking fish & grilling meat, and the big crowds of people until late each evening - we are content from all the conversations around the craft of chair making. The warmth that people have for the traditional chairs of Cyprus is the message we keep, and are always happy to exchange knowledge & experiences around the subject. We heard of some chair makers that are new to us and answered to questions about the craft.

The little community of artisans that gathers yearly during w**e festival bonds during the 9 evenings, we miss this during the rest of the year! It would be a dream to have a craft festival in the Municipal Gardens that lasts for days!

Thank you to all visitors who passed our booth, fellow makers, the municipality of Limassol for hosting and w**e producers for keeping the tradition going!

P.S. See you at Kyperounda Apple Festival 10 & 11/10/2026

Limassol w**e festival starts tonight! Come meet us in the craft "neighbourhood" behind the Vraka man to the right. We value these traditional festivals because the community gets to see our craft and the makers face to face.
Every night until October 4th
