"Savannah Morning"

I painted "Savannah Morning" in 2024 for the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation's Wildlife Artist of the Year competition. While the painting wasn't selected, it marked an important step in my journey as a conservation artist—and its purpose has never changed: to celebrate African wildlife and support conservation through art.
My connection with Africa goes back much further. I have been fascinated by its wildlife since childhood, and a few weeks ago I had the privilege of working alongside Wildlife ACT in South Africa. Experiencing wildlife conservation firsthand and observing these incredible animals in their natural habitat has strengthened my belief that art can inspire people to care about the natural world.
At my recent exhibition, one visitor stopped in front of Savannah Morning and immediately fell in love with it. His only concern was whether it would fit into his home. So I offered to bring the painting over and see it in its future surroundings.
Even after trying different rooms and walls, we still couldn't decide on the perfect place—but one thing had already become clear: he simply couldn't imagine leaving without it.
Moments like these remind me that art isn't just about finding a place on a wall. It's about creating a connection.
I'm especially happy that this painting has found its forever home. Even more meaningful is knowing that 10% of the proceeds will support Wildlife ACT in South Africa, helping to protect the wildlife that inspires my work, while another 10% will support the Leutzscher Kunstrasen art association, whose wonderful exhibition brought us together in the first place.
