🔴 Garnet Lovat — LC-Pipes Handmade 004
A custom order with a very specific brief:
a true Lovat, long and straight, with a tall bowl, almost fully rusticated with a few smooth areas left for personal inscriptions, and above all… red.
Mission accomplished. 😉
This pipe also gave me the opportunity to develop a new garnet shade, created especially for this piece at the customer’s request.
On the rusticated finish, the colour changes beautifully depending on the light, from deep burgundy to ruby red, while still highlighting all the texture.
For the finish, I chose shellac this time, giving the garnet just the right amount of depth and shine without overpowering the rustication.
A red acrylic stem, a thin white acrylic ring and a bright red plateau complete the whole piece.

VERTEX OBSIDIAN ⚫

Today, a closer look at one of the Vertex pipes: the Obsidian.

A deliberately dark pipe, with a black finish that really highlights the facets and the distinctive lines of the Vertex series.

It may look quite substantial in the photos… but not at all in the hand: only 27 g at 150 mm long!

Ebonite stem, 18 × 23 mm chamber, and of course the natural sitter design that allows it to stand on its own.

A darker take on the Vertex, with a character that really changes depending on the light and the angle you look at it from.

Two beautiful restorations completed!

A Joura Grade 9, done for CAO, and a Chonowitsch Denmark Bruyere 27.

Quite a bit of work on both, especially since the Chonowitsch’s stem was heavily oxidized and had a hole near the mouthpiece, so it had to be completely rebuilt.

Cleaning, restoration of the briar and stems, finishing touches… all while preserving as much of the original as possible.
The before-and-after photos speak for themselves 😉
They can now go back to their owners!

This little "Tomato" sandblasted pipe is still available!

A little handmade pipe that I still love just as much, with its black sandblasted finish and red and black acrylic accents that give it quite a character.

A rather unusual order is leaving the workshop today.

This time, the customer came in with a very specific request: a bamboo pipe inspired by the work of Yang Kun.

This project required me to step outside my usual routine a bit: working with bamboo, fitting the various components together, inserts in the knots, a boxwood ring, and a black acrylic stem… I spent quite a bit of time figuring out the right proportions and, above all, achieving a cohesive whole.

Here’s the result.

A big thank you to my client for his trust and, above all, for proposing this project to me. It’s also thanks to these kinds of commissions that we get to try things we probably wouldn’t have done otherwise.

It’s now ready to go to its owner.😊
