I’d go so far as to say this is one of our favourite hotels for a luxury, family-friendly beach holiday because it has a stunning setting with a sense of place and a good balance between adult & child-friendly facilities. We ate well, couldn’t fault the service & we’ll never forget the sunsets!

Even though we visited during May half term we never found it too busy. There was always plenty of sun beds and lots to do without feeling hectic.

For people who like to get out and explore you are only a short shuttle bus ride from Fethiye’s Old Town and bazaar. (Admittedly we didn’t make it there this time as we were too busy checking out the gym, sports courts and spa!)

🇬🇷 Ranking higher than beaches in Thailand, Mexico and the Maldives, this secluded stretch of coast on the Greek island of Kefalonia was named #2 on the The World’s 50 Best Beaches list for 2026.

While you won’t find powder soft sand here, the untouched beauty of Fteri’s steep white cliffs paired with pristine cobalt waters is truly jaw-dropping. We visited last summer and I can see why the judges thought it was special.

📍 How to get to Fteri Beach

Part of Fteri’s charm is that it’s not accessible by car, however, you can easily reach this incredible beach by taking a 10 minute water taxi from Zola Harbour on Kefalonia’s north coast.

(Day trips, self drive boat hire and hiking are also an option but we took the quickest and easiest route.)

There is free parking at the harbour and you can just turn up and book water taxi tickets on the day. A couple of companies operate out of Zola Harbour and they all charge the same prices.

The price is 20 Euros per adult and 10 Euros per child for a return ticket. You book your return trip when buying the outbound ticket so if you want the most flexibility arrive early when there is more availability.

Be aware that there are no facilities on Fteri Beach so bring your own snacks and water and take all rubbish away with you.

I would also recommend a beach shade or umbrella if visiting in summer (the water taxi company lent us one!) as well as beach shoes as the beach is stony.

🇬🇷 Mini guide to Kolympethres Beach, Paros

🌊 Found 10 mins drive from Naousa, Kolympethres Beach (also spelt Kolymbithres) is one of the most popular beaches on Paros thanks to its unusual rock formations and calm shallow waters.

🅿️ Parking is available but it’s quite haphazard so I recommend arriving early if you’re not keen on squeezing into awkward spaces.

🚏 You can also get a bus or water taxi from Naoussa.

🏖️ The beach itself consists of several small sandy coves squeezed between pale rocks. There are sun beds available to hire (we saw them advertised at 45 euros for the set in July 2025) and limited space to lay your towels and umbrellas. We arrived at 10am and got a prime position near the water but spaces filled up fast.

🍽️ For food we heard a lot of great things about Maremma, which is a taverna set just behind the beach that is known for its seafood. (Has its own car park.)

☕️ We went for a more casual lunch of salads and frappes at Paros on the Rocks and really enjoyed the views and service.
