Fabeco Felt Rugs We make our felt rugs, using only natural resources; wool, water, vegetable soap and muscle power.

We are two practising artists living and working in rural central France. We met at a weekly art class, one of us the teacher of the group and one of us a newly-arrived, self-taught felt maker, hoping to make some new friends. Susan is a painter and sculptor who who also teaches art in the local community. Annette is an experienced felt maker who sells her works in shops and markets throughout the

region. We quickly realised we had a lot in common; we both have smallholdings on which we keep sheep. We both have an abundance of wool fleece and we both feel strongly about the environment and the effect of unethical production of goods on our planet, its people and wildlife. It didn't take us too long to come up with a creative way to use the fleece and at the same time ensuring what we did was eco-friendly. We researched traditional methods of making felt rugs, using only natural resources; wool, water, vegetable soap and muscle power and soon after started up our felt rug making cottage industry.
