ON COLOUR — colourful interiors, vintage ceramics and collected homes.

I think colour asks for a certain boldness. Black and white can quieten a room; colour lets in contrast, memory and personality.

For me, using colour in an interior is less about choosing a palette and more about allowing things to find one another — a weathered French ceramic, Spanish earthenware, hand-painted tableware, glass, linen, something faded by sunlight or marked by age.

Perhaps that is what I love about vintage ceramics and old objects. Colour carries place and time. Glazes soften, surfaces change and the small irregularities become part of their beauty.

A collected home doesn’t need to feel perfect. A little less controlled. A little more instinctive. More personal.

Colour asks for a certain boldness. Perhaps the boldest thing is simply choosing what you love.

A study in objects, colour and form.

New European antiques and vintage ceramics, gathered across France and Spain for their character, surface and beautifully imperfect histories.

From richly glazed Spanish pottery to sculptural forms and antique tableware, these are objects chosen to be used, lived with and looked at.

FAJALAUZA, GRANADA

Fajalauza pottery has been made in Granada since the 16th century, its visual language shaped by the city’s Hispano-Moresque ceramic tradition. Painted by hand in its distinctive palette, each piece carries the marks of a craft that has long moved between the practical and the decorative.

Among its most recognisable forms is the lebrillo — originally an everyday household bowl used for preparing food, washing produce and countless domestic tasks. Over time, these generous forms became canvases for increasingly expressive decoration.

Across Fajalauza pottery, motifs shift from scrolling foliage and pomegranates to birds, flowers, radiating botanical forms and rhythmic painted borders. No two pieces are quite alike; differences in brushwork, proportion and composition reveal the hand of the individual maker.

It is this combination of irregularity, colour and ornament that we love most — objects originally made for everyday life, transformed over generations into things of enduring beauty.
