I love prepping for workshops as I get to try out different styles and methods. Today's Talk & Paint workshop with Kathryn Jones features the work of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and my version is below.
I must say that I don't generally like copying other artists' work but this follows a talk about her life and work and it at least gives a tiny insight in to her style and subject matter.
I used gouache paint and acrylic pens.x

Happy International Women’s Day. There are lots of IWD events taking place and I'm lucky to be taking part in three exhibitions which mark this day.
I'm a member of Women's Arts Association Wales so I have work in their two exhibitions -Llanover Arts Centre, Cardiff and Arts Central Gallery, Barry. I also have work in Women and the Valleys at Cynon Valley Museum. Have a great day x

This is my necklace that I've had some time ago. I didn't make it, I bought it in a gallery but I have so many compliments when wearing it I thought it would be fun to make similar pieces. In this taster workshop you will discover how to mix colours along with basic watercolour techniques such as painting wet-on-wet and creating washes and you will produce a small painting to take home.

Pen & Wash Watercolour Workshop with Karin Mear

In this friendly and informal workshop you will learn how to combine lovely, loose drawings in ink with soft, colourful watercolour.
You will be shown shading and cross hatching techniques along with watercolour washes and you'll complete a small painting to take home.

Spring Botanicals in Watercolour with Karin Mear

In this taster workshop you'll begin by drawing a flower chosen from a large selection of fresh flowers and foliage.
You'll then bring your drawing to life using watercolour paints.
All materials are provided including flowers but feel to bring along a favourite flower or foliage from your garden.
