Even the hardest-working rooms in your home deserve to be beautiful! Utility rooms and boot rooms are often treated as purely practical spaces — but why shouldn’t they feel just as considered and welcoming as the rest of your home?

For this project, we took our colour cues from the sunroom next door, gently toning them down to create a softer, more grounded palette. The result is a space that feels connected, calm and cohesive — yet perfectly suited to muddy boots, wagging tails and everyday life.

The room itself was a tricky shape, with limited storage opportunities, so creativity was key. We designed bespoke storage to make every inch work harder:

• A made-to-measure coat and shoe solution tucked neatly beneath the window
• Dedicated storage for dog leads, towels and treats
• A bench for extra storage and a place to sit to get muddy shoes on and off. It also hides the underfloor heating manifold.
• Practical cabinetry that keeps clutter hidden while maintaining a warm, welcoming feel

Because functionality doesn’t mean compromising on style — and even the most practical spaces deserve thoughtful design, we added extra details like the stunning splash back and the reeded orange doors to make this room really stand out!

If you’re rethinking your utility or boot room, let’s make it work beautifully for your life.

This morning’s sunrise stopped me in my tracks — those fiery oranges and soft purples sweeping across the sky created that wonderful sense of awe you only get from nature showing off.

It’s a reminder of how powerful natural colour can be. Sometimes we feel like nature is muted and safe, but when we bring the bold side of nature into our interiors — whether through warm sunset tones, rich earthy palettes, or vivid botanical shades — we invite that same uplifting energy into our homes.

Colour has an incredible ability to shift our mood, spark our conversations and creativity, and create spaces that feel alive and deeply connected to the world outside.

If you want to embrace more bold, natural colour in your home, but feel overwhelmed with the decision, drop me a message. I offer colour consultations which could be the perfect place to start…

It’s amazing how one accessory can completely change the mood of a space…

This pendant from Lights & Lamps turns a simple stairwell into something that feels finished, thoughtful — and honestly, a bit fabulous! The soft curves add warmth and personality, the ribbing echoes the ceiling , while the white finish keeps it fresh and bright and contrasts the walls. A hallway that felt very safe and traditional, is now becoming a beautiful modern space reflective of its occupants.

It’s the small touches like this that take a space from “ok” to “damn, that’s good.”

So glad my client went with this option (it was my favourite). ❤️

A progress shot from my clients who are implementing this design themselves. The decorator has been in and the walls are done, new sockets and switches are in, some of the new lights in place too. Now just waiting on sofas, armchairs, rug, and new coffee tables.
Such a gorgeous colour, perfect for cosy nights.

One of my favourite parts of the design process is the collaboration. It’s never just me coming up with ideas and handing them over — it’s a proper two-way conversation.

You come to me with your thoughts, Pinterest boards, and “I’m not sure if this will work but I love it” ideas… and I help polish and piece them together into a design that feels right for you and your home.

Sometimes that means tweaking layouts, rethinking colours, or editing my original concepts to make sure your ideas fit in the best way possible. It’s a bit like sculpting — we start with a rough shape and keep refining until everything flows beautifully.

Two weeks ago I met my clients with the first edits of this design, which I have now tweaked to incorporate their feedback and today we will meet again to make fabric selections and start to sculpt the next level of the design. I can’t wait to see what they think…

I swung by a previous client’s house today to help with a few extras she wanted. I hadn’t seen it since she had added her personal treasures back in, and I couldn’t resist taking a quick snapshot.

The main sun room I designed looks fabulous with the colour drenched walls and ceiling, alongside the beautiful walnut furniture and is a great backdrop for all their treasures from many travels around the world. And those curtains… I forgot how in love with them I was!

(Dog not part of the original design, but seems to love it as much as her owner).

Over the summer my client in Knaresborough had her living room completely updated, and has sent over these images of the completed project.

The doors at the back of the room into the old dining room were never used, and neat storage was at a premium in this room, so I designed these alcoves to be created by the excellent team at Woodhouse Kitchens & Bedrooms Ltd who arranged for all the plastering, cabinetry and electrics.

My client had trades she trusted to complete the carpets, blinds and decorating, so much of this project was left in her hands for final installation.

After a tough year, she now has a fresh and modern living room to relax in, that is much less cluttered and brighter than before, but retains some of her much loved furniture alongside some key new items and a new palette.

If you need some help to refresh one of your rooms with new ideas, that tie in existing items you love, get in touch today. I have very limited slots left before the end of the year.

I have been a bit quiet on the socials for a few weeks now, the truth is this summer has been a tough juggle, and so a few balls inevitably have had to be ditched in favour of priorities. With 4 projects at various stages, kids full time with school off , family visiting etc it’s easy to start to feel a little overwhelmed.

But last week I got some time, and a little trip to Ireland in that gorgeous weather was just the remedy. Those of you who know me, know that I am as passionate about the outdoors as I am about the indoors. My holiday was spent outdoors as much as possible - moors, beaches, mountains, lakes, waterfalls and even indulged in some forest bathing. Every day I felt more relaxed, more restored, no matter the location.

And it reminded me, this is why I am so passionate about biophilic interior design. By introducing natural materials, earthy colours, plants and daylight into our homes, we can recreate that same sense of calm and connection every day – not just when we’re away and when we are outdoors.

The best bit? I can help you bring that feeling home - and you may even end up as happy as the rock at the end!
