On May 2nd, I had the very great privilege of going to Horatio’s Garden at the new Welsh Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Centre in University Hospital, Llandough in Cardiff and delivering five GELDA birdbaths. Elevated above the road with views over the Welsh countryside and to the sea, the talented award-winning Sarah Price has created a very special place. The garden is tranquil and calm yet invigorating and inspirational at the same time. A place for healing. The garden was only opened last year and under the watchful caring eye of Head Gardener Owen Griffiths, who is also a Horticultural Therapist, it is thriving. It was an honour to meet both the patients and the wonderful volunteers.

I am truly humbled by the work of Dr Olivia Chappel and the extraordinary national charity that she has founded in the name of her son Horatio who was tragically killed aged just 17.

I feel deeply honoured that my offer of a donation to Horatio’s Garden was accepted. Thank you so very much.

This paining of a life size goldfinch was painted in 1654 by the Dutch Golden Age artist Carel Fabritius and can be found in the Mauritshuis in The Hague which is also home to the famous Johannes Vermeer painting The Girl with the Pearl Earring. There is currently an extraordinary Vermeer exhibition being held at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and I was lucky enough to go to it with my mum under the magnificent guidance of Ciceroni Travel. Tom Duncan is the glorious art historian behind this wonderful company and being guided by him was a truly fabulous, educational and amusing experience.
LOVED the art, LOVED the city and it’s canals, LOVED the food and LOVE my mum! .

A very happy recipient of ELIZABETH our wild bird feeding tree! He has placed it right outside his home office window and I now get regular texts and messages about his feathered visitors and what they’re eating! I absolutely love hearing from my fellow bird watchers.

Well I wasn’t expecting to wake up to this beautiful sight! I love snow! But I better get out there and brush the snow off the feeders hanging from ELIZABETH so our wild birds can have their breakfast. They’ll need the suet and nuts and mealworms today more than ever….

OMG!! My favourite bird is back!!! So so excited to see a nuthatch feasting from my ELIZABETH feeding tree this morning 😃Nuthatches love old trees especially oaks and they love peanuts and sunflower hearts and according to they rarely travel far from the area in which they were hatched. I rarely see them but when I do I am transfixed - they eat upside down!! How do they do that???
I think I’ve managed to attach some sound to this post so you can hear the nuthatch song🤞

I just had to post this! It’s the verdigris version of a person proudly sharing a photo of themselves happily dressed in their new piece of clothing! I hope it’s going to be the first of many - namely because it makes me feel very happy to see my birdbaths doing what they say they do but also because it shows that we make garden birds happy too! This TORI birdbath is happily ensconced in Dublin and clearly providing joy all round!

I’ve been overjoyed by all your orders - thank you so very much! It’s been so much fun creating the information and care cards to introduce my girls to their new owners! I’ve loved writing the gift cards and tying them on with my velvet ribbon before nestling them into their bespoke boxes or crates for safe travel. The best news is the notification saying that she’s arrived safely!! Fxx
