Having tried and failed I have finally decided to close my Etsy shop, and all the other selling platforms I’ve tried, in order to concentrate on simply crafting for pleasure. I’ll still be hanging out on Instagram but for the most part I’ll be hanging out with my family and my yarn/fabric stash 😂 No regrets, I just need to get back to the fun stuff!

My granddaughter’s attitude to my knitting ability reminded of this totally bizarre children’s programme from the 70’s. After knitting her several Barbie dresses she decided that all I had to do if I wanted something was to - wiggles fingers together - “Just go like that!”
Now where did I put my sou’wester and blue hair dye?

Something for meeee!!
This month it’s my birthday so as a present from my husband 😆 I ordered some gorgeous wool for a jumper I’ve been wanting to knit for a while. No, it’s not my birthday until later in the month and yes, I’ve already started knitting but I really couldn’t wait!! 🫶🩵💚 I should have it done for winter - I’m just not saying which winter 😂😂

Are hand knitted wool socks worth the price tag?
My son certainly thinks so! He works as a builder’s labourer and wears the same pair of socks all week unless they get wet. He says that they don’t make his feet sweat like other socks that he has. These ones have been in the wash at 40 degrees C a gazillion times (as per the washing instructions for this particular brand). He has 3 pairs now and as you can see, apart from a little rubbing on the heel and some cement that won’t wash off 😆 they are perfectly fine. This particular pair eventually became a little baggy at the cuff but with a little sock surgery they were as good as new 🧦🐑

After coming to the conclusion that I’m trying to run before I can walk (albeit in lovely socks 😆), I have decided to return to my Etsy shop as a platform for my custom knit socks. Here you will be able to buy socks tailored to your shoe size, in a variety of styles that I hope to add to regularly. All socks are made using British wool too ❤️🎉🐑

I’ve finally got around to adding the Made to Order Socks section to my website! So far there are two designs to choose from but I’ll be adding to them very soon (when I get the socks finished and photographed 😆). As well as choosing your design, size and colour you are able to add a variety of measurements to help get the perfect fit. If you don’t want to measure, or you’re looking for a gift idea, I can work from the shoe size alone.

Although I’ve been quite quiet on the old socials for a while, I’ve still been pretty busy behind the scenes, working on something that I’m rather excited about 🤎
I am in the process of developing a Made to Order service for my hand knitted socks. As the sole (no pun intended 😂) person in this small business, I feel that this is the best way for me to offer you the style, colour and size that you want, when you want it.
Currently I’m tweaking my designs and trying to get my head around the logistics of it all 🤪 I’ll keep you posted on further developments. In the meantime I’d love to hear your thoughts on this new venture 🤎

I’ve been working on some boot socks using Signature 4ply held double. They are lovely and squishy with the heel stitch carried on down the sole and on the toes for extra toughness. I started these before WYS brought out their new ColourLab DK sock yarn and I’m itching to try that out now!!

I’m currently standardising my 4ply and boot sock sizes ahead of the launch of my (hopefully) upcoming Made to Order service. I’m also using it as time to make improvements to the overall designs, tweaking the techniques that I use for a more professional finish.
For my own socks I usually just join in the round by working the first stitch but I came across this lovely Smooth Join by and I love it!! She explains how she developed the technique and her videos show clearly how to do it for whichever version of knitting in the round that you choose. Game changed!!
