Better late than never!

I know, I know. The good weather is about to disappear and dump us back in the middle of winter but I've still been busy on designing garden lights anyway.

This one is quite neat. It mounts really easily with 2 screws in a back plate that the actual light just slides onto. It charges using a large solar panel. The photo here shows it in comparison with the sort of panel you're most likely to find when you buy cheap solar lights in garden centres, etc. I have one mounted on the fence in a very shaded part of our garden and, even from dead, it charged today.

BUT... you can also just pop the LED unit out from the wall mounted housing and charge it with a USB-C cable.

It works from dusk until dawn on a sensor, or you can use the included remote control to turn it on and off.

And on top of all that, the white diffuser is interchangeable and can be personalised. I now have 2 plain ones up in the back garden but I'm just printing another with our house number on for the front - great for when Just Eat are hunting for your house in the dark with your curry on a Saturday night. Through the summer, have a nice floral design. Maybe a pumpkin at Halloween, a snowman at Christmas and balloons at new year. The choice will be yours!

It's grown 3 legs!

Since I posted a few days ago about this new light, it's grown 3 more legs. 3 was good... 6 is definitely better.

With it's caramel diffuser and birch ply legs, this retro table lamp is fab (I designed it so I would say that!) and is the perfect source or cosy and warm ambient lighting that will work as a table lamp anywhere in your home or as a unique bedside light.

It's USB powered and uses the tiniest amount of power. It'll even run for many hours on a small power bank (not included) so you can put it anywhere; even if there are no sockets nearby.

It stands about 350mm tall and is all curves with the vase shaped diffuser and the wooden legs that hugs the profile of the diffuser all the way to the top.

Every picture tells a story!

Had an idea last night and hit the computer for another light featuring wood. The curve of the wood follows the shape of the diffuser before splaying out to make the legs for this neat USB powered table lamp.

This one is just a try out using birch plywood but I've got some solid mahogany sheets arriving to use for the final version.

Sneak preview!

I've got a great CO2 laser here that I use very infrequently. I'm on a mission now to make more use of it with my lights so that I can integrate real wood into them.

This is version 1.

6mm birch plywood stained with a dark oak, and a really nice caramel coloured diffuser. This just uses a simple USB powered LED disc with an on/off switch.

I really like it. Definitely got a sort of 70s vibe and a warm and cosy glow.

I'm quite fond of this one!

Makes me remember Paul, the octopus famous for predicting the results of matches in the 2010 World Cup. Octopuses are highly intelligent creatures with 9 brains and 3 hearts. Sadly, they only live for a few years.

Little drop off at Cositas Bonitas this morning of some more lights.

Some 2 colour versions of the little spherical lights which are really funky. And some of the mini lamps. I've dropped off one of each shade for now and you can mix and match between the bases.

These little rechargeable lights are great if you want a bit of mood lighting in a corner where you have no power. On white at full brightness they last 13 hours. On other colours at lower brightness they should last even longer. Then just pop them on charge for a couple of hours and you're good to go again.

Ok, it's hardly gonna win me a BAFTA but it was all in the name of science. I wanted something to be able to prove how long my lights last. To myself, and to anyone that wants to know. This is worst case scenario. White light on full brightness.

Watch the clock. 13 hours condensed into a minute and a half.

On other colours, or lower brightness setting, these little lights will last for at least 13 hours.
