From first conversations to opening night… this project has been over two years in the making.
The client had never worked with an interior designer before but knew the scale of the project needed professional input and not just from a design perspective, but from a time and project management point of view too.
The first year was largely tied up with the purchase of the premises from the brewery and planning amendments. Around 12 months ago, I was appointed and we began developing the concept design, shaping the overall look and feel of the pub while major engineering and flood defence works were taking place.
From there, the project moved into detailed design, this included key layouts, schedules & finishes. Once the flood defence works were complete and the interior fit-out began earlier this year, I was regularly on site throughout the construction phase.
It all came together with two final days on site for furniture install and styling, adding the finishing touches and making those last little tweaks before a soft opening this week.
And what an opening it was.
Seeing the pub full of people enjoying the atmosphere, the space and the experience we all worked so hard to create was such a rewarding moment. The soft opening has been a huge success, the feedback has been fantastic, and the clients are genuinely delighted with the outcome.
It’s been a brilliant project to be part of. Amelia and the whole team have been great to work with, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together.
