What a smashing day, few hours deep in the dales on the river Burn, a stunning part of our beautiful country, surrounded by wild garlic and vivid purple bluebells, the 6.5 miles of river winding its way through ancient woodlands, historic villages, land farmed by generations of families.
Trout rising everywhere, I set off with enthusiasm, in my haste, I missed 3 immediately 🙄..... having watched IB and Andy Fishing video, I readjusted my set up and moved along the river as I'd spooked the previous stretch... a few more failed attempts and more eagle eyed spotting of rising trout, I targeted a rising trout and 1st cast, the hook was set, a lovely fight and in the net. The rainbow trout was another story, again rising again I targeted it, and wallop, roughly 2lb of fighting fish on a 3weight rod, epic battle. Thrilled is an understatement 😁
