Work in progress on a bespoke walnut watch box commission.

The sunburst veneer layout is now beginning to come together, crafted from carefully selected American Black Walnut with contrasting dyed black Bolivar details. Every veneer segment is individually cut, aligned and laid by hand to ensure the grain flows perfectly from a single focal point.

This piece will eventually house a full watch collection along with twin button-release drawers, combining fine craftsmanship with engineered precision.

Still a long way to go, but the character of the box is already starting to emerge.

Years ago, I had the privilege of producing this bespoke box for the wedding of Prince William and Catherine.
Crafted from locally sourced ripple sycamore, the piece featured their royal monogram executed in fine marquetry, with contrasting details and a fitted interior designed to hold mints — a favourite of The Queen Mother. Every detail was considered, from the bookmatched figure of the timber to the hand-finished brass lock and precision fitted compartments.
A commission created for a future king, and a piece I still look back on with great pride.

The first stages of a very special commission now underway.

This luxury watch box will feature twin button-release drawers, combining precision engineering with traditional craftsmanship. The main structure is being handcrafted from American Black Walnut, paired with dyed black Bolivar for contrast and depth.

Early layout work are where every detail is refined — grain direction, symmetry, movement and mechanism integration all carefully considered before final machining and assembly begin.

A lot of hours go into projects long before the finished piece starts to reveal itself, but these foundations are what create a truly exceptional box in the end.

🌙⭐️☁️Moonlit Night Box 🌙⭐️☁️
This bespoke art piece is designed with an Art Deco inspired paper-cut landscape on the lid top — the moon and stars drift effortlessly above rolling hills, captured in fine marquetry using various dyed veneers. Accents of mother of pearl are used to create the stars.

The box interior is lined with premium moon mist suede, chosen for its softness and durability, and includes a precision tray, designed to house various items of jewellery. Custom solid copper hardware (lock and hinges) completes the box, engineered exclusively for this design. 🌙⭐️🌟
