We're delighted to introduce some gorgeous new artwork to Arti by illustrator Monica Auriemma 🎨

"As a child, drawing was my perfect moment of joy, as it is for many children. I still feel that way.

After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples (Italy) and working for 15 years as a set designer in the theatre and cinema, I had an epiphany: I wanted to be an illustrator.
My first book was published in 2005, and since then I have worked for Italian, British and American publishers.

I devote any spare time I have to personal projects, where I can express myself freely. This has earned me a Highly Commended at the World Illustration Awards 2020 and the Purple Island Award at the NAMI Concours 2021. What you see here is part of one of these projects."

Today's Arti artwork is by Sarah Wheeler 🎨

"I'm Sarah Wheeler. I live in the beautiful Norfolk countryside and most of my art is influenced by the animals, birds and plants around me. I also have an interest in folklore that pops up in the occasional painting!

I am a self-taught artist. I began drawing (very prolifically!) in my teenage years and have always found art to be a calming mainstay in the hectic chaos of life. My preferred medium is watercolour. I love its versatility, the fact that it's easy to carry on a walk (practicalities!) and that, sometimes, it has a mind of its own.

I have also started doing pet portraits over the last five years. I particularly enjoy painting cats - I have three myself and they are very good at working their way into paintings, whether planned or not! 🐈

Today's Arti Introducing is... Rachel Cross 🎨

" Rachel Cross is a dot Mandala artist from Oakwood, Derby. Mandala is a Sanskrit word which literally means “circle”. They are spiritual symbols typically designed in a circular format; they usually have repetitive patterns, shapes, and colours that all radiate from the centre point. Because of this, they are well known for their meditative purposes and are said to focus the mind, aid concentration and alleviate stress. A dot mandala is a form created, as suggested, with nothing but thousands of dots.
Using only two colours, layers are added to create real depth, allowing the patterns to really come alive. Each piece can take up to 200 hours to create, to m,e that is 200 hours of calm and relaxation, which I hope is given to those who appreciate my art on their walls at home or work. "

Today's Arti Introducing is... Trudi Udell .udell.art 🎨

"My work focuses on creating atmospheric and textured landscapes, but I also create large abstract art pieces.

I am inspired by my surroundings and the fauna and flora of my local reservoir.

My abstract pieces are created with instinct and emotion, always focusing on the drama and intrigue a piece can portray. Each piece is lovingly crafted, taking care to ensure the mood of a piece is captured through the use of harmonious and contrasting colours."

Ruth Portlock's main inspiration is the human figure - she creates her art from life, photos or the imagination and loves the countryside of Derbyshire and Northern France, too. Having quit art school many years ago, she never stopped drawing and painting and is currently Vice Chairman of Derby Sketching Club who love getting together to draw from life 🎨

This beautiful work is a "Monoprint created from life on a prepared background of shadowy gold. The model bends towards the viewer, her wavy hair hanging down." 💙 It's one of many pieces of amazing Arti art on display in the - CHECK IT OUT!
