In this pretty ensemble we have hydrangeas, daffodils, an orchid, edelweiss, forget-me-nots, lily of the valley, peonies and a fern 🍃 it really can be anything you want it to be.

🌺I’ve been a little quiet on here lately 🌸 it’s been the Easter holidays and I’ve been spending time with my kids (all day, every day), as well as working, volunteering, painting and growing a baby! I know, it’s a lot, but I’ve still managed to send out five new orders in April 🥳 I really can’t wait to get back to normality. I can’t remember the last evening I didn’t work until bedtime, so I am ready for the rest that term time will bring.

Here’s one of my recent orders, a birthday gift for a lovely mum. I could freestyle on this one so I picked my favourite colours; pinks, purples and yellows. It feels like summer is on the way 🌸🌼🪻

💖 Re-Do 💖 This lovely family have recently welcomed a new addition 🥰 I can leave a space at the end of a line of names if you think more children may join the family, and revisit the painting when the time comes 👶 For this particular portrait I chose to start again, the original was done a couple of years ago and my style has changed so much! I hope Grandma is happy with her garden of beautiful flowers 🌸

My name is Kath 👋 I’m a Derbyshire mum and artist. My painting shop is called Ginger & Blue (after my children who have ginger hair and blue eyes!) and I specialize in floral family portraits, like this one.

Blue Monday. I painted this during my first pregnancy for the baby’s bedroom, once I’d found out we were having a little boy. It no longer hangs on the wall in his bedroom, as he is now approaching 5 years old he is more interested in the solar system and cars than pretty art! My baby is growing up.

I hope that if you’re finding today hard, you can reach out. Talk to someone, treat yourself, take a moment to do something that makes you happy (for me that’s painting), and find some peace.

Before and After…. Each painting usually takes two to three sittings. The names are the first stage, then the first layer of water colour paint. Once dried, I start to add some detail, which can take a couple of sessions to get just right 👌🏻

You can request any flowers, little touches, personal details and symbolic meaning, and I can work it into the finished piece 🌹
