Today 2nd Oct. is the feast of the Guardian Angels. Many of us were taught this simple prayer when we were young children and it has stayed with us over the years ------ “Angel of God, my guardian dear,
To whom God's love commits me here,
Ever this day [or night], be at my side,
To light and guard, to rule and guide.
Amen.”

On 1st of October we celebrate the feast of the best know of our Carmelites – St. Therese of Lisieux. She is often called St. Therese of the Roses because shortly before she died in 1897 aged 24 yrs - Therese promised to spend her heaven letting a “shower of roses” fall to earth, meaning she would send graces and help people from heaven. We have the tradition in our monastery of having roses blessed on her feast and many people like to take a blessed rose home with them to celebrate her promise to do good upon earth and to invoke her intercession. She reminds us that “we can never have too much confidence in God who is so merciful.” (photo of her statue in our chapel)
