My heart is full today. Working with Ollie and Jenni on their utterly beautiful wedding day has been the dream gig. Such a fabulous couple who have felt like friends through the entire process. I have adored pulling together the floral arrangements for this laid back, sunny September wedding. The vibe was Indian Summer and the weather certainly got that memo this morning.

Oooo, I do love an urn arrangement. They complement both traditional and more modern settings and are super easy to move between ceremony and reception.

The dahlias and zinnias are back and I am happy. They're two of my absolute favourite flowers and I always wait patiently for this time of year.

At this time of year, the flowers are much more robust, which makes our job, as floral designers, much less stressful. Delicate blooms that grow earlier in the season are so beautiful but they are much, much trickier to work with, especially when the weather is crazily hot as it has been all summer.

Today's bouquet didn't need to be fought for, as some do, every flower just happily found its space and I spent a relaxed and happy time creating it. The sun is still out, but the temperatures are cooler, and this morning's set up was incredibly chilled with a lovely couple at its heart. Just what was needed.

Despite the summer of 2026 being probably the most challenging we've ever experienced as wedding florists, that is nothing compared to what our wonderful growers have gone through to deliver these flowers to us week after week. Hats off to my two main horticultural heroes Georgina Woof - Devon Flower Farmer Phoebe Grubb 🌻 Devon Cut Flower Grower who are unflappably brilliant.

Taking a few days out, to just sit and chill and catch my breath. I find that some years all the weddings come pretty much at once, alongside my holiday business, which has been so very busy lately. We've also moved both the boys at opposite ends of the country and we did a lot of gadding about for my birthday. It's all been brilliant, but also a lot, and I'm feeling a bit knackered today. I went to a spin class this morning, in the heat, and nearly puked on my bike mid way through. As we left the class, with me a bit wobbly, Mike suggested I might take a few days off to chill out. He's sensible like that.

So earlier I got back to all the inquiries sitting in my inbox, completed a lot of admin for the next few weddings (and some for next year's weddings too) and now I'm going to sit on my arse...attempt to get on top of the massive book pile (birthdays are good like that) and try to ignore what needs doing in the garden and the house.

Hoping to feel a bit more rested by the end of the week...the heat really doesn't help either. I'm going to turn my socials off too.

Little glimpses of the nine metre wide window ledge at Launcells Barton- Wedding venue all dressed and ready for Tanya & Ben's beautiful day last Saturday.

We used trays filled with water soaked moss to keep all the flowers and foliages hydrated on a lovely warm and sunny June afternoon. (The moss was recycled from our Christmas wreaths and the water was collected from our garden water butts!)

The moss was originally collected sustainably by Nicky at Vega Rosa Cornwall in December for our Christmas season, and we simply stored it and used it again for the floral installations we do over the summer months.

These trays of moss can be used over and over again during our busy summer season, and is an example of how we continue to design out waste from our studio 🌿

Yes to drift wood arches and vintage milk churns. Yes to wonderful couples like Em and Matt. Yes to having such a lovely wedding venue right on our doorstep. Yes to having the bride's sister sing while we set up today. Yes to flowers grown just down the road. Yes to having the best gang of freelancers who come and flower with me. Yes to having a seasonal and mindful approach to wedding day flowers. Just yes really.

Love. Just love.

I think, as human beings, it's all we have really. All we should be striving for as we meander through these lovely lives of ours.

To love, and to be loved.

I get to see it so often in my work. On the happy and bursting with joy kind of days, of course, but on the sad and difficult days too. I get to see it in sharp focus on those days, in all its wonderful detail. I feel the love emanating from the families who I work with and it so often takes my breath away.

Last week I worked on a few of those sad days and I tried to pour a lot of the love into the floral arrangements I made. They feel like an expression of each family's love. A final token of beauty as well as a gift from mother earth.

I am grateful for the trust each family puts in me to create something that represents a little piece of their love, and I'm grateful for the connection I get to have with these lovely people, who give me a lovely window into the love they have shared.
