This beautiful late 18th century terrace house was an absolute pleasure to work on. The weather definitely helped too ☀️.

I love my job most days but, working on and in old buildings that have so much character and history really is a privilege. Preparation is 80% of my job as a decorator and I loved every minute of it on this job. It’s a labour of love and I get so much out of it.

When I decorate any property I see every inch of it, every nook and cranny. I get to know it, Quite often, an old property will also teach me things like how different life was when it was built. Sometimes I have to do repairs that I’ve never done before so while I’m researching them I’ll learn even more. Every day is a school day.

This project needed serious prep! Including sealing, stripping, filling and priming before final coats. But well worth the time spent.

Walls were primed with grey Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 as the existing paint was silk and the final coats are durable Matt. If you use and emulsion over a silk paint you risk crazing and peeling as silk is designed to repel moisture.
