✨After & Before ✨

The room was already pretty. It just wasn't finished. This Victorian living room had beautiful bones; original cornicing, a marble fireplace, gorgeous oak floors, but nothing was pulling it together. The brief was to make it feel cosy, layered, warm and complete without losing the lightness the blue walls gave it.

And here's the thing, most of the furniture was already there. The sofa, the coffee table, the curtains. Good interior design isn't always about starting from scratch. Sometimes it's about understanding what you already have, what it needs around it, and where to invest the budget that will make the biggest difference.

Bespoke alcove cabinetry painted in the softest blush pink, floor to ceiling pinch pleat curtains, a new armchair for the bay window and considered styling throughout. The fireplace finally got to be the focal point it always should have been.

Swipe to see where we started.

If this is the kind of space you're dreaming of, let's make it happen. Details in my bio. E x

Unpopular opinion: LVT isn't the "worry-free" choice everyone thinks it is.

Every time wood flooring comes up, I hear the same thing. "Isn't LVT just easier? It doesn't scratch, it's waterproof, why risk real wood?"

Okay... but that's not the full story. Yes, LVT resists scratches. But damage it; a dropped pan, a dragged chair leg, years of wear in a hallway and that plank isn't fixable. It's replaced.

Wood heals. A scratch, a scuff, even years of wear. Sand it back, refinish it, and it looks new again. Actually, better than new, because it's had time to settle and age into the room.

So does wood need the odd refinish over the years? Yes. But it's the only floor that gets better with age instead of just getting swapped out.

Now, I'll say this - LVT isn't the enemy here, and I'm not anti-LVT. In a bathroom or anywhere with high moisture, it's genuinely a brilliant, practical choice, and I'll spec it without hesitation. But for high traffic areas and daily life happening on it, that's where wood earns its keep, every time.

This is how I approach every flooring choice. Honestly, not just what's easy to sell. If you're weighing up your own floors, let's chat about yours. E x

Designer's tip: always test paint in your own room, in your own light.

The same colour can look completely different in a north-facing room and a south-facing one, and again in the morning and the evening. Paint a large sample on some paper, stick it on two or more walls, and live with it for a few days before you buy the tins.

And if you're staring at 47 shades of white and still can't decide, that's exactly what I'm here for!

Planning a room refresh, or a whole home? Send me a DM or tap the link in my bio, and let's chat about your project. Save this for when you next pick a colour. E x

✨Designer's tip ✨

If a room feels flat, check your lighting before you buy anything new.

Most rooms I walk into have one light on, usually the big one on the ceiling. It's practical, but for task lighting only.

The fix is layers. Think three levels:

✨ Ceiling: your main light, ideally on a dimmer
✨ Lamp: a table or floor lamp at around eye level, for warmth
✨ Accent: wall lights, picture lights or a small lamp on a shelf, to add depth

Three levels will make more difference than a new sofa ever will, and it's a lot cheaper too. Try it this evening: switch off the main light and turn on two lamps. You'll see what I mean.

What's the lighting situation in your living room right now? Tell me below.

Save this for when you next rearrange a room. E x

Where I'd spend and where I'd save in any room.

Spend on the pieces you'll use every day: the sofa, the bed, the table, the kitchen. Save on the things you'll want to change: cushions, throws, duvet covers, photo frames.

Cheaper accessories doesn't mean lower quality. They mean you can refresh a room without redoing the budget. is a great example of that. Really reasonable prices and amazing quality!

Have you ever regretted not spending money on something? DM me to find out my top picks in Ikea and if you need any help picking out the best pieces. E x

Unpopular opinion: porcelain isn't the "safe" choice everyone thinks it is.

Every time natural stone comes up for flooring, I hear the same thing. "Porcelain's just easier." "Stone's too much maintenance." "Why risk it?"

Okay... but porcelain has a weakness nobody talks about. It doesn't stain, sure. But chip it; drop a pan, catch it with a heavy piece of furniture and what's underneath is just plain white or grey. There's no fixing that. It's there forever.

Natural stone is the same material the whole way through. A chip can be filled, polished, blended back in until you'd never know it happened. I've seen it done.

That's the bit nobody tells you: stone doesn't hide from damage, it absorbs it. Every mark becomes part of the floor's story instead of a flaw sitting on top of it. Porcelain wears out. Stone ages and somehow just gets better with it.

Does it need the odd reseal? Yes. But for a floor that gets more character with every year rather than less, that's not really a downside, that's the whole point.

This is how I approach every flooring choice. Honestly, not just what's easy to sell. If you're weighing up stone vs porcelain for your own space, let's chat about yours. E x

✨After & Before ✨

A family room that finally feels like one. Beautiful bones with a vaulted ceiling, oak beams, a wood burning stove but the white joinery meant the room never quite came together. The brief was warmth, texture and a space the whole family could actually settle into.

Bespoke media unit, deep green joinery, wicker storage, patterned roman blind and brass accents throughout. Every detail chosen to bring the architecture to life rather than work against it.

Not every day is a styled shelf or a finished room.

Most days look more like this - laptop open, samples everywhere, working through the details that don't make it into the final photos but make the difference in the finished space.

This is the part of running Pippin Interiors that nobody really sees, but it's genuinely my favourite bit. Well, seeing my mood board come to life in the room takes some beating!

Unpopular Opinion - Marble CAN be used for kitchen worktops.

Every time I mention marble for a kitchen, I brace myself for the comments. "But it stains!" "But it etches!" "But it's high maintenance!" “But it’s too porous!”

Okay... but so is quartz. Yes, really. Quartz can stain, scorch and dull over time too, it's just better at hiding it (for now).

Here's the bit nobody tells you about marble: those stains you're so scared of? They fade. I've watched it happen in my own kitchen; the w**e glass ring, the tomato sauce splash, the turmeric stain that had me convinced I'd ruined it forever. Weeks later, barely a trace. What's left isn't damage, it's patina. Your kitchen quietly keeping a diary of every dinner party, every Sunday roast, every delicious curry recipe using turmeric.

Does it need a little care? Sure, a yearly reseal and wiping up spills before they sit too long. But if you want a kitchen that looks brand new forever, that's not really what marble's for anyway.

I'll always be the designer in the room telling you the honest truth, not just what's easiest to sell you. And the honest truth is: marble earns its stripes, then quietly lets most of them go. Literally.

Would you risk the turmeric stain for a worktop with this much character?
