A painting about the concept of a conscious universe.
What if the universe is looking at itself through us as if through a hologram, infinitely, through our eyes, our choices, our creation? There is no end, only endless curiosity...

I had a very personal title picked out for this one, but I've changed my mind. What title would you give it?

I just finished this new painting.

I'm fascinated by the study of how humans would endure in a world post-technology. In the absence of all modern distraction, what actually is our moral default set-point?

As humans, we live inside the fragile illusion of security. Advanced technology has entered our daily lives and we have been romanced by its cold alien presence.

This painting reminds me to preserve my connection to spirit, that mysterious equation within each of us that will forever be beyond the reaches of science, and that can never be resolved.

*Large cardinals (definition): extraordinarily large infinite sizes whose existence implies rich and powerful mathematical structures beyond ordinary set theory

New materials to create new artwork! This high quality oil pastel I bought in Zurich earlier this week (and which nearly melted on the bus home) makes me work very differently on my latest series.

The oil glides over the paper like butter, and the colour glows like fire in certain light.

Today I'm working on this second piece in the series:
The Creation of Time.

I feel very alive.

"...A regiment of stickmen covers the entire surface. A light appears to shine down from one corner. Some stickmen are caught in its glare. They appear to have been chosen..."

This artwork was inspired by a conversation about meaning, and a question about who my paintings are for. Not escape, not flight, but rather liberation.

Stars exist in our experience, although very far away. For example, the central star in the belt of the Constellation Orion is approximately 2000 light years away.

Like people.

We meet them, know them, separate, maybe continue to see them every day in person or online, but we no longer revolve in their orbit.

The distance appears ever widening.

In this painting I wanted to close the gap, to command the laws of Physics to obey my desires. If we could meet each other once more as if for the very first time, but with all the knowing of the stars...

To close an open loop. To bend time.
