A palette for all seasons ☀️🍁🌱🔥

Pink & Green is a classic combination; one of my favourites in fact! Tweaking the more traditional tones to orangey terracottas & olive based greens subtly draws on each season so this room can be enjoyed year round. Here’s how:

Autumn 🍂 - the terracotta tones remind us of the changing colours of the trees
Winter 🔥 - the terracotta tones create cosiness & nod to the colours of a warming fire
Spring 🌱 - green tones are always a great link to nature
Summer - terracotta is also widely associated with warmer climes & holiday destinations.

The brief for this project: to create a cosy, calm retreat with references to my clients Maltese heritage. Fireplace tiles were my starting point and I fell in love with this ‘Deia’ tile by Bert & May | Tiles | Reclaimed | Bespoke so worked the rest of the room around it😍!

Statement Neutrals 🤎🖤

Because going minimal on colour doesn’t translate to minimal impact. So how can you add interest to a neutral colour scheme?

1) Layer textures: mix & match sofa & chair fabrics as well as cushions; a large, sumptuous rug is a must!
2) Mix your materials: wood & metal accents on furniture, lighting and sockets and switches that sit in the same / similar palette will really elevate a scheme.
3) Make artwork or framed wallpaper the star of the show. On this moodboard, I’ve suggested framing a wallpaper mural, which breaks up wall space without being overwhelming.
4) Decorative / feature lighting - whilst practical lighting is paramount, also consider lighting as another piece of art. Layered lighting is also essential for creating the right ambience.
5) Paint power - differentiate your woodwork and / or ceiling from your walls by using a subtly different shade.

The brief for this project was contemporary, yet cosy with zones introduced for reading & watching TV to break up the elongated footprint of the room. West End Interiors have designed a stunning media wall and bespoke cabinetry (swipe to see) using a mix of materials, which I have continued into my aspects of the design along with some softer textures to create a sense warmth and relaxation.

Variety is the spice of life 🌶️ 🎨!

My work is hugely varied, and that’s exactly the way I like it! From calm, sophisticated schemes to the bold and even groovy (baby), I approach each project with the same amount of passion & enthusiasm. My goal is always to help my clients to discover their own interior style, a style that is personal to them, so that it endures and feels authentic.

70’s inspo from Pinterest for a huge open plan living room at Project North Chingford. Gorgeous glazed tiles, sumptuous sofas and wow window seats - it’s going to be really special.

Project Good Easter 🏡

Such a privilege to work on this beautiful property. The initial consultation took place last week for the lounge, garden room & hallway. I’ll be working on moodboards soon.

And the en suite has already been designed by the talented Design | Supply | Installation . Traditional and contemporary elements blend seamlessly to create the perfect retreat at the end of the day 🛀 🥂 🫧.

The details on this bespoks rug from FLOOR_STORY are incredible. I cannot wait to see this in my clients Master Bedroom 🛌 😍!

Upcycling a piece of furniture is a great way to own a real standout, statement piece, and that’s exactly what my Great Tey client will be the owner of very soon. I’m very excited to see another of Dark Betty Interiors pieces of work in the flesh 👌.

Into the Blue 🩵💙

Particularly THIS BLUE by Lick 💙🩵. Blue 17 is the perfect shade for living rooms, blending smoky sophistication with subtle pinky tones that soften & warm up any space. I knew it would be the perfect choice for this project… 🎨

The brief: to create a cosy, calm retreat with references to my clients Maltese heritage. Fireplace tiles were the starting point and I got lost down a delightful rabbit hole of Maltese tile production, which I would highly recommend 🇲🇹!

Hotel Inspired 🌏🛌

Boutique Hotels offer great inspiration for interiors in our homes, with luxury and relaxation at the forefront of their designs. The brief for this project was to create a scheme with Japanese and Chinese references, using artwork purchased by my clients as the starting point (swipe to see 🖼️).

Textured wallpaper behind the bed softens the walls and injects sophistication, while delicate fretwork on the wardrobe doors transforms this fitted furniture into a stunning feature. A dedicated dressing table area has been added to enhance the hotel vibe.

Pretty Pastels Part II 🩵💕

In this second scheme I presented to my Colchester client for her open plan kitchen area, I let the furniture do the talking 🛋️! Isn’t this Yanagi velvet from just stunning? Artwork, ceramics, dining chairs and table all contribute to the soft, pastel palette, which complements the kitchen designed by perfectly.

This scheme is proof that you don’t need to necessarily go mad with paint on your walls (& ceiling!) to create a colourful space. Using the right neutrals will offer the perfect backdrop to artwork and statement furniture, giving your home the personal touch it deserves.

Game, set & match 🎾⚽️☀️🌻

With the weekend almost over, I’m taking some time to put my feet up to watch the Men’s final 🎾, which will hopefully help be a wind down from last night’s emotional rollercoaster 🎢 🫣⚽️! We never make it easy, do we 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 😬?!

I’ve taken a look round today - so lovely to meet with local artists & see their work in real life. I’ll pop some of bits on my stories so make sure you head over and take a look 🖼️.
