BABIES! I’ve drawn a lot of little babas for Ribble Valley Children’s Physiotherapy 🧸 recently which has been a lot of fun. I do love drawing a chonky little baba!

Chloe and the team have been working hard on their new baby development packages - baby milestones, baby MOT and their baby development webinar. Check out Ribble Valley Children’s Physiotherapy 🧸 for more info.

Not long to go until 📣

This year I had some help with my National Doodle Day submissions, my mini apprentice got to do one too! He is the reason I get involved, after all.

Our story - this is Beau, he is 7 and he was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was 2. He also has autism, ADHD and learning difficulties. Difficulties with coordination, fine motor skills and sensory processing make holding a pen difficult for him, but he loves to draw and be an artist like his mama! We were warned early on, untangling and understanding his complex neurology was going to be a long and difficult process and the road ahead was unclear. Beau has absence seizures daily but because they have been a part of his life since he was a toddler, they are just a normal part of life and don’t get in the way. Which is why we decided on drawing a super hero for his doodle, because he doesn’t let his epilepsy get in the way!

And mine, a favourite phrase celebrating neurodiversity, Not all great minds think alike!

Both doodles will be available in the National Doodle Day auction, raising money for Epilepsy Action . The auction starts on 25th September.

Back to school prep has been well under way in our house, since returning from France. It’s best introduced bit by bit, in advance, rather than springing it on the night before.

This is our 3rd time heading back to school so we’ve got some pretty tried and tested methods as well as the introduction of a few new things. NGL I’m feeling the anxiety of year 2 to 3 being a big step, lots more changes to handle this year.

What we’ve got in place -
🍎 A new school shelf by the front door - one place for all his things that he can clearly see/find
📚 Same water bottle, coat, lunch bag, style of shoe - same is safe.
⏰ A visual countdown timer - to help with getting ready and out of the door on time
📆 New schedules
Visual reminders - his uniform out and ready
📖 A social story detailing what will be different and what will be the same.

Best of luck to all kiddos returning to school this week ❤️ but particularly to those with any sort of anxiety or difficulty surrounding school.

A city visit, a costal holiday village and a quiet country hideaway. Eating and drinking our way through France!

Time with besties and family time just us 3.

Driving offers so much more flexibility, yes it’s a lot of time in the car, but there’s no waiting or queueing at airports, we can stop when we need and we can pack for all eventualities. Being able to pack everything he might need, such as his peanut ball, blankets, crafts and activities, without worrying about size or weight is a big plus!

On the whole he coped well without the normal structure and routine whilst away. I do have to draw mini schedules for him and he did fixate on things quite a lot, with a lot of repetitive questions about when something is happening. But overall, he managed well!

I even managed to pluck up the confidence by the end of the week to speak a bit of French! 596 days on Duolingo and counting! 🇫🇷

Beach bum! Splashing in the waves and digging in the sand is def on the top of this sensory seekers favourite places to be!

Our French road trip has sadly come to an end and we are back home. Not fully back into work mode just yet, just easing myself back in gently.

I had intended to do a daily sketch as a diary but that didn’t happen as it felt like me just putting pressure on myself. So I let myself off and just picked up a pen as and when the mood took me. ✍🏻
