Interior design enthusiasts have been fawning over Highclere Castle, the set of Downton Abbey ever since it first hit our screens.

Traditional English home decor is often epitomised by the historical country house look, which is created by pulling together schemes that give an overall sense of grandeur, comfort and cohesion.

Architecture and interior design of the period often drew on classic art theory and the natural world, arguably more so than we do in today’s design.
