We'd been travelling Egypt for George's 30th birthday and on the last night we stayed at the gorgeous Ramses Hilton in Cairo.

We celebrated George's birthday early with our lovely travel companions and new friends at the Opia Lounge & Bar on the 36th floor.

Delicious cocktails at sunset, fantastic staff and an incredible view of Cairo and the River Nile that we'd all spent 4 nights sailing down earlier that week.

We visited Colchester Zoo yesterday for George's birthday. We always forget that this incredible zoo is right on our doorstep and it's just fascinating to walk around and be able to be so close to so many animals. Our dream holiday would actually be to go on a safari in Africa - but I think we need to save a lot more pennies first...!

Particular highlights:

🐧 George's favourite! He loves the penguins! We made it just in time for feeding and a Penguin talk.

🦜 Australian Rainbows - you can buy nectar and get to feed them, although we did get slightly attacked!

🐆 My nails and backpack matched the gorgeous leopard - we had no idea their tails were so long!

🍰 Getting home to eat cake we bought from the garden centre the day before

Thank you to the Opia Lounge at Ramses Hilton in Cairo for a wonderful evening celebrating George's 30th birthday with our lovely travel buddies. 🐫

As soon as they knew we were celebrating, Mohammed and the team gave us a little surprise too! We absolutely loved our night of cocktails, food and fun - all being 36 floors up on the rooftop of the Ramses Hilton with an absolutely blinding sunset view of Cairo and the Nile! 🌆

Thank you to everyone who made George's 30th birthday special - whether in Egypt, or in the UK.

It's George's birthday Eve! I have to be forgiving because it's his birthday, but frustratingly & also he's by his own admission, quite terrible at making decisions and planning ahead. But everything did come together, we made it in time to sit down for the film and we're thoroughly looking forward to smashing our cake tomorrow!
