I’ve got a couple of kitchen fronts jobs on at the moment, and it made me realise I barely ever mention them. Custom fronts are a great way of getting the ch*****ne look on a prosecco budget. Well alright, maybe a nice Cremant, birch ain’t cheap. And it’s not just the natural look - you can have other veneers, laminates like fenix and Formica, or a painted finish for something that can easily have the scuffs and stains of life repaired.

Another new project in a happy home - this one is a corner storage bench, for another returning customer!
Four flaps hiding huge cabinet space, and four lovely wool hand upholstered cushions to ensure comfy bum times.
Not much else to say about the furniture, so let’s all go out and carry a watermelon (sorry, all my cultural references are now 40 years out of date)

Delivered and installed this sideboard for a returning customer today. Everything’s push-to-open which gives it this very minimalist frontage. Birch plywood throughout, with the fronts all grain matched from the same board.

There’s two internal double sockets, so I made these nice little pucks to keep things tidy.

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, it’s been a tough few weeks for the family. I’m sure I’ll talk about it when I’m ready - but for now, back in the saddle with some fresh new work. This floating desk is for a set designer customer, a discerning chap with an eye for pushing the design envelope. What we’ve got here is a big boxy wedge, held up by giant French cleats and more wall fixings than you can shake a stick at. Really fun to design and make, and I enjoyed the challenge of getting those compound mitres right. It was a good workout too, those boxes are heavy!

Just realised I started doing this ten years ago! So here’s a post for the makers with a few tidbits of advice. There’s always ups and downs, but if you do what you love you’ll weather the storms that much easier.
I reckon I’ll do another post soon about how this all came about - I’ve written a load of guff but trying to fit that in a post needs brain. Run out of brain for the day now.
