Portrait of the angel Gabriel, apparently. Exquisite portrait, probably egg-tempura, hanging in the chapel at Bowood House.

We replaced the original glazing with ultra-clear museum glass supplied by . When we opened the frame to remove existing glazing, we removed the old nails that originally held the artwork in place. We chose not to use nails when reassembling in order to minimise shock to the old frame. We used bendable metal fixing plates, screwed to the frame and plastic-coated wire stretched across the back of the artwork to hold in place. The back sealed with framer’s taped to prevent creatures taking up residence within the frame.

It’s a pleasure to have Chris Dunn’s furry critters in our window again, bringing some joy while we wait for spring to arrive.
Prints available to buy either framed or unframed. We framed these prints using museum grade cotton core mount board. Ultra-clear glazing. Wooden mouldings with hand finished detail.

Dive into Wimbush waters. The azure depths are a siren calling in this exquisite watercolour by English watercolourist Henry B Wimbush (1858 – 1943). Portofino on the Italian Riviera glistens and shimmers.

Wimbush’s work was exhibited at the Royal Academy as well as the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours.

We framed this beaut in cool gold, bevelled cushion moulding by , mounted with cotton board, anti-reflective glazing by .

TREE Foundation
Trust for Records of Enslavement and Emancipation. A UK-based foundation dedicated to preserving, interpreting and sharing historical records of slavery and emancipation. Their mission, ‘remembrance and truth’.

An honour to have been commissioned to frame original documents within the trusts archive. Sometimes we handle items that stop us for a long moment to consider their content. Truly shocking to be reminded that, not that long ago, individuals held such power as to be able to reduce the lives of people they deemed of lower order, to basic commodity value.

A real pleasure to attend the launch of TREE Foundation at Dyrham Park, a National Trust property created by William Blathwayt in the 17th century. The significance of the choice of venue for the launch event is important in light of Blathwayt’s professional and personal interests in the Caribbean. As secretary of trade and plantations, Blathwayt’s career and fortune were deeply rooted in the exploitation of enslaved people. It’s a credit to the National Trust that conversations about the darker histories of some of the stately homes in their portfolio are now being shared. Transparent and open-minded reading of our history must surely lead to a more inclusive future.
