Have a lovely time everyone! I’ve got a few days break which feels well overdue and I’m looking forward to catching up on a few things in life and at home. Can’t quite believe that 2026 is around the corner can you?x

Ooooh one to research further…🧐
Thank you History of Art

Helen Frankenthaler — Color as a Living Language

Helen Frankenthaler transformed the course of postwar American art. With her revolutionary soak-stain technique, she poured diluted paint directly onto unprimed canvas, letting color seep, flow, and breathe like a living organism.

Her works feel spontaneous yet deeply intentional — vast fields of pigment that blur the line between painting and landscape, emotion and atmosphere. Frankenthaler opened the door to Color Field painting and influenced generations of artists who followed.

Pure color, pure sensation, pure freedom.

Choice can be both a blessing and a curse can't it?
And when you're making decisions on any part of your home interior, there can be so much to consider.

👉 There's the, 'making the one choice itself'.
👉 Then there's the, 'how that goes with your other choices, pre-existing or yet to be chosen'.
👉 Then there's the, 'how that does that all look/what is it saying'.
👉 Then (and if you've made it to this point) there's the, 'how's that feeling to you'.

Fair play...
If you've made it to this point without fatigue, you've done far more than most!! Sometimes though, there can be so much going on in life, that we can all struggle to choose what we want for our tea 😂

The financial cost of certain choices can be a big driver when we're investing in our home. But keep in mind, there is also a cost of not making certain choices...and not exploring how you would like the room to feel earlier on, can be absolutely one of them.

In the longer term, this can make a real difference between liking and truly loving your home 🏡

Peeking out from behind my advert in the local Summer Breeze magazine 😀 I thought I'd take the opportunity to show my face and say hello, windswept hair and all!

There's quite a bit happening in the background project-wise. Photos of things like exposed brickwork and damp plasterwork however, are probably not that interesting are they 😂

Am I wrong...?

Let me know in the comments x

"What did you get up to last week Rhian?"
In a nutshell, quite a bit of this👇

It was such a busy Whitsun week for clearing the kitchen cupboards, planning, painting and more preparation.

The new look is starting to take shape now, thanks to everyone involved!

A home interior you know, can feel a bit like a personal jigsaw puzzle at times, as our needs and tastes change.

There can be parts of a room that fall into the right place and ones that now find themselves in the wrong one. Parts of a room that feel missing. Then there's the parts that we fall in love with, but seemingly can't find the room for...

It's a big part of what I do as an Interior Designer. I help homeowners who own homes of all shapes and sizes to complete their very own picture. I’m always on the lookout for the right pieces and more often than not, they appear ahead of schedule…

Take this fabric for example. A pop in to Just Fabrics in Burford provided just that.
This fabric is a strong contender for a large roman blind in the kitchen that I shared with you last week…. The red/pink colour is pretty perfect 🙌

I've got a good feeling about this home renovation...

Alongside the Cloakroom WC (that I shared a bit about last week), I've made a start to the design of the improvements in the kitchen and it's having quite the makeover!

A new paint colour is now in motion on the wooden doors, which is very exciting. The lighter of the two colour options tested below (on the right hand side), has been chosen. I prepared a careful selection of colours to consider and we're moving forward with Blue Gray by Farrow & Ball.

There can be a lot to consider on projects like these and when the design of the room needs to incorporate some existing layers. I'm in the process of looking at how we can add in a ceramic hob and a fan oven too if we can do, to help with the ease of cooking in this family kitchen in future and when you're only cooking for two!

I'll be confirming the cabinet edging, handles, worktop and floor shortly. It's going to look and feel so much better 😀

Sharing a little from the studio table today...

A look for a Cloakroom WC interior I don't think is ever easy. On the one hand, it can be a small, practical space that can afford to be a little light hearted. On the other hand, it can be the one that your guests remember for all sorts of reasons and so all of the details, still play their part...

In this home, the brief for this room is a warmer and more welcoming feel. I'm looking at a few ideas at the moment, to work with the existing layout and natural light in the room. The home is having a well overdue refresh in a few areas and whilst this room might include a feature, creating a sense of flow will be so important 🙏
