Due to Barrow-in-Furness not currently having a proper theatre (following the permanent closure of The Forum), local amateur dramatics groups have been forced to look at alternative venues to perform their shows.
Walney Musical Theatre Company took the bold (but topical) step of staging their recent production of ‘Sister Act’ at St Mary’s Church, Walney Island which proved to be a huge success!
We supplied all sound equipment and operation for the show.
It was important for the equipment to be as compact as possible - as space was at a premium with fitting the performers, audience and a 10 piece orchestra in the building!
In addition we also assisted with solving other technical issues (due to the nature of the venue), including organising 3 phase power distribution for lighting from an external generator.

We have now added the groundbreaking Sennheiser Spectera WMAS wireless system to hire stock!

Although to the uninitiated it may just look like a plain 1U black box and some fairly typical belt packs, the system has some remarkable functions including:
1) It allows bi-directional transmission (a belt-pack can be used for both a mic/instrument and an IEM receiver at the same time).
2) The base-station uses WMAS technology to fit a much larger number of audio links in a single (or dual) 8MHz TV channel than using conventional narrow-band transmission.
A maximum of 32 input and 32 output channels can be connected (via Dante or optional MADI) - and different transmission modes chosen depending on latency, range and channel-density requirements.
3) Four of the DAD antennas (looking similar to a conventional 'paddle' aerial - but actually containing all the RF electronics) can be connected to each base unit.
These do not use coax cable - just basic CAT5E network cable, so can be easily placed up to 100m away (more using fibre convertors) - enabling wide areas to be easily covered.

This is just the scratching the surface of the product - and we hope to add future developments - including the yet to be released handheld transmitters!
